Pros: A Superb, Sprawling Masterpiece from the Coen Brothers led by John Turturro's Tour-De-Force Performance. Cons: None at All.
With three successful features under their belt, Joel and Ethan Coen were clearly the most unpredictable and eccentric group of filmmakers to emerge into Hollywood with an independent film spirit that few could ever capture. With recent success like ...

Pros: One of the great films of an incredibly talented duo. Cons: If you've seen Coen brothers movies and "not got them", you probably won't get this.
The idiosyncracies of Joel and Ethan Coen are known at a glance, spotted from a distance, and as natural as childbirth. They rose from a murky first feature (Blood Simple) to refreshingly neurotic (Raising Arizona) before turning out one of the best ...

Pros: read review Cons: read review
Sometimes the movies have a way of playing with our heads by confusing us, not necessarily plot-wise, but mood-wise. Sometimes we can't tell what's real and what's a dream. "Barton Fink" is a journey into that world of vertigo where what's real seems ...

Pros: Nothing else like it Cons: Too sparse and weird for some people
"Barton Fink" is a really weird movie. It is the best weird movie I've ever seen. The Coen brothers, whose other work includes Fargo, The Big Lebowski, The Hudsucker Proxy, and Raising Arizona (all of which are great) had their first widely...

Pros: Engaging, Unexpectedly spectacular performance by John Goodman Cons: you'll have to explain it to whomever you watch it with...and you may not have gotten it either...
Joel and Ethan Cohen have been lauded in America for their movie Fargo, which won lead actress McDermott an Oscar for her portrayal of a small town officer in the town sharing its name with the film. Yet the Cohen brothers have a truly complex and...

Pros: Chilling & interesting. Cons: May induce confusion.
This isn?t a review, it?s just my theory about one of the meanings behind Barton Fink, and may spoil it if you haven't seen it already.
In an interview with the Coen brothers around the time of its original release...

Pros: Complex, hilariously funny in places Cons: May be baffling on the first viewing
I enjoyed _Barton Fink_ the first time I saw it, but I didn't feel I fully comprehended it. And then I watched it again, and realized how much better this film is than I first thought. Barton is a 1940s playwright who believes he understands people,...

Pros: Good characters and character development Cons: has some lagging moments
Barton Fink is one of those projects that can be difficult to sum up. Maybe it isn't meant to be summed up, but simply watched and remembered. It took me two attempts before I made it through the entire movie. I ended up really liking it.

Pros: A perfect example in film making Cons: Far to hush hush
This is yet another of my top ten favorite films ever. I saw this in the theater and as I was walking out, I knew I had experienced a piece of history I wasn't very likely to shake any time soon. The thing that always surprised me is that out of all...
