Pros: One of the most fully-formed depictions of a controversial and innovative persona. Cons: Some of the footage feels manipulated to suit the purpose of the director.
One female reader of adult cartoonist, Robert Crumb's early comicbook work spoke of being absolutely horrified of these shapely, bird-headed bugaboos that he had created, and I fully understand her feelings. Crumb's work, sometimes racist, oftentimes...

Pros: Interesting portrait, unique concept, fascinating artwork Cons: Too longish, disturbing for some
Crumb is nothing short of a truly great idea. Many credit it with the inception of the Best Documentary Category at the Oscars and had that category been created before the release of this movie, there's probably a good chance it would've won the Oscar. ...

Pros: Fascinating Cons: Strange
I'm not usually one for documentaries, but Crumb had a list longer than my arm of four-star ratings and other such critical acclaims. Crumb does actually live up to the hype, as a voyeuristic look at a strange man and his stranger family. It's a...

Pros: Savage, instructive Cons: A little dry at certain points
"I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it." ---Voltaire
Robert Crumb defines this movie when speaking at a college lecture:" The three things I'm most famous for ['Keep...

Pros: STRANGE-Entertaining and Interesting Cons: Can drag in places but worth the wait
Crumb is an interesting and detailed view into the life and mind of a creative and highly expressive artist. (His work recognizable work from the 70's Zap comics, Fritz the Cat, Keep on Truckin character) This film takes us on an exploratory journey...

Pros: see review Cons: see review
Most people are familiar with Andy Warhol, Salvador Dalî, and other modern artists whose art seemed to reflect their bizarre lifestyles. Robert Crumb is one of those artists, but more blue collar and down-to-Earth and this is reflected in his artwork....

Pros: Mind-boggling psychic dysfunction Cons: Maybe too much for the squeamish
Everybody knows and loves R Crumb's distinctive, hilarious, seriously-un-PC cartooning style.
This documentary shows for the first time the unbelievably disturbed family background he comes from, offering painfully unguarded interviews with...

Pros: Crumb's artwork flashed across the screen set to beautiful old music Cons: his family is a little creepy
What a movie! An exceptionally good look at underground comic guru Robert Crumb. I have never really seen any of Crumb's work before I went out and rented this movie. Not only do you get to pick at the brain of R. Crumb, but you also get little video...

Pros: I could watch it every day and see something new every time. Cons: It's not a television series.
This slice of Crumb's life reminds of that scab on your elbow that you just can't keep your hands away from. It's ugly and doesn't seem to feel any nicer, but you just can't stop watching it. Crumb is amazingly beautiful and beautifully tragic at the...

Pros: Fascinating... Cons: like a car crash
This movie documents the life of R. Crumb, a pioneer in alternative comics. Terry Zwigoff, director of Ghost World, also directed this movie. Interestingly, the writer of the graphic novel Ghost World, Daniel Clowes, was influenced by R. Crumb. Terry...
