Pros: Much better, and in fact more complex than people give it credit for. Cons: Many people don't get it.
I love this movie... and I've thought long and hard about what it is trying to say. Hopefully you can take the time to decide for yourself what you think about it.
Chasing Amy is the story of everyday guy Holden McNeil, who is...

Pros: Brilliant approach to subject matter that is usually given the PC treatment -- also it's very funny Cons: Nothing of importance
This is one of those rare films that some of my friends refuse to see on the grounds of they don't need reminding of old wounds. Not because they heard bad things about it, quality-wise. That's pretty uncommon. It's also, for me, one of those rare...

Pros: Great dialogue, very true-to-life in many ways, and very heartfelt. Cons: Some of the humor may be too racy for some folks.
First of all, I love Kevin Smith's View Askew movies. I own three of them(Clerks, Chasing Amy, Dogma), and have seen all five of them multiple times. Therefore, this will not be the first review I write of one of his movies. Chasing Amy is one of the...

Pros: good acting - emotions seem real and truthfully examined Cons: Sorry, but I do not like vile language anywhere
I saw Dogma and found it offensive, but was told to watch "Chasing Amy" to better appreciate Kevin Smith. So I did, and I have mixed emotions.
This is an education to "Love and Sex in the Ninetys", or so I am...

Pros: Intelligent dialogue, very funny at times Cons: none!
I admit to being a Kevin Smith fan after seeing 'Clerks', which pains me to some degree, because of the trendy nature that I attach to fans of Smith, his movie 'Clerks', and to the popularity behind his unorthodox characters, Jay and Silent Bob. For...

Pros: JASON LEE! Great writing...did I mention Jason Lee? Cons: Guaranteed to offend some viewers, the DVD is the same version as the Laser Disc release
I saw Chasing Amy again last night, for what must be the tenth time (at least!), except now it was on the Criterion Collection DVD. A review of the DVD follows:
What a great movie. I’m not a rabid Kevin Smith fan (I thought Clerks was...

Pros: Affleck, Lee is too funny!, Sensitive Subject Matter, Joey Lauren Adams, Dialouge. Cons: Like I said before; "Sensitive Subject Matter".
**Preface: This is my first write off!! To quote my good friend John Fowler... "WOOT!"! I feel like ...

Pros: The Kevin Smith script, the cast especially Jay and Silent Bob Cons: Bizarre ending
You can tell right away that Chasing Amy is a Kevin Smith movie. From all the comic books and Star Wars references. To characters that believe that the F-bomb is just as valuable to a sentence as a period, it's all in here.
And what is it...

Pros: Hilarious and somewhat intelligent love/comedy Cons: Predictable, Joey Lauren Adams is a banshee.
Kevin Smith, the hairy, pudgy director who brought us the contemporary favorites Clerks and Mallrats, hits us with his 1997 third installment entitled Chasing Amy. While Chasing Amy tries hard to be earnest, it falls slightly short, and leaves that...

Pros: story line Cons: profanity
Lets begin by saying " Oh my"!!!!! This movies an adventure into Kevin Smith's directing abilities as well as acting talents. As other members have said the viewing of Dogma another film by Kevin Smith is what lead me to " Chasing...

Pros: Joey Lauren Adams, the script Cons: Ben Affleck (but not his fault)
Short synopsis: Holden (Affleck) and Banky (Lee) run a cartoon called Bluntman and Chronic. Holden is introduced to Alyssa (Adams) and thinks they hit it off...But Alyssa is gay (or at least goes both ways). They begin a friendship and Banky becomes...

Pros: Funny, Intelligent, Well-Acted, Characters, Edgy Plot Cons: Underuse of Jay and Silent Bob, Disparities In Holden's I.Q.
On the DVD to "Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back," Kevin Smith and Scott Mosier discuss their library of works in baseball terms. They believe themselves to have a career of "admirable doubles" with one strike out. I tend to disagree. While "Jay and ...

Pros: A fantastically crafted story, as funny as it is sweet. Cons: Boring direction, and the acting is laid back to say the least.
Now that the critically-slammed “Mallrats” has scuttled off into forgotten territory (come on guys, at the end of the day it really wasn’t that bad) Kevin Smith gets back on track with this, the concluding part of the New Jersey Trilogy that began with...

Pros: In-depth character study, interesting plot, very funny Cons: The ending! Dear God, the ending!
Chasing Amy is a movie that is utterly brilliant for its first two hours, filled with interesting people, a solid plot, good (if a bit static) direction, and even a lot of laughs. Then, in the last ten minutes or so, it gives us an ending so...

Pros: Brilliant script, outstanding performances from Affleck and Adams. Cons: None. I want to see a DVD version
In backtracking Kevin Smith's flicks, "Chasing Amy" finally showed up in my video library. I liked "Dogma" so much and was so tickled with"Clerks" that I approached this movie with fear. I had even more apprehension since...
