Pros: Genuine dialogue and acting Cons: Some of it does come across as overbearing
There was quite an entertainment gap between Kevin Smith's first movie, Clerks, and his second, Mallrats. With Chasing Amy, the third movie in New Jersey trilogy, Smith is back in top form. His offbeat sense of humor and frank sexual dialogue are...

Pros: Well-acted / Lee & Adams give great performance / Genuinely funny stuff Cons: Affleck isn't all that convincing / Not as funny as "Clerks"
A new Criterion Collection DVD of "Chasing Amy" was just recently released, and with it, I decided to re-visited the third installment in Kevin Smith's ("Clerks," "Mallrats," "Dogma") film resume. I found that the...

Pros: Kevin Smith weaves themes together so that they may be familiar, but they are unique. Cons: It's not a typical Kevin Smith film, so don't expect one.
I haven't posted an epinion in a month. I've seen several movies in that period, but haven't been moved to write. Yes, I have some big opinions, but I haven't been in the mood. Not even to continue my Bond reviews (more are coming...)
Well I...

Pros: hilarious, tear-jerker, great date movie, makes one think about relationships in general Cons: we never do find out how it truly ends, but then again, this may not be all bad since this movie (like most of Smith's others) are true to life, and therefore no one really ever knows the outcome
Ever since I saw "Clerks," I have been a huge fan of Kevin Smith. He, and sidekick, Jay, are the most hilarious couple I have seen on the silver screen in a long time! Smith, who is always found in each of his movies playing the wise, strong,...

Pros: Chasing Amy is a well-written and acted romantic drama that marks a step forward in the promising career of Kevin Smith. Cons: When he does try to get mobile, such as at the hockey game, it feels awkward and contrived.
"It's not who you love. It's how." Take this tag line for Chasing Amy and combine it with the knowledge that the film was written and directed by Clerks mastermind Kevin Smith, and one might be excused for thinking this movie is a slight, if...

Pros: Moving, engaging, bold and often very funny... Cons: A few lapses in the script/acting dept.s and a few derail moments...
This is going to be a very unique and personal opinion and unlike any other your likely to read on any product either here or anywhere else. I finally rented Chasing Amy this weekend because every time I've ever poured my heart out to anyone, they just...

Pros: LOTS of extras, commentary on the the movie, great DVD quality. Cons: Don't buy this if you own the Laser Disc.
This is not an epinion of the acuall movie of Chasing Amy. That can be found under this same catigory with the name of Love, Lesbians, and Jay and Silent Bob. This is a review of the Criterion DVD version of the film.
The Criterion...

Pros: Kevin Smith Movie. Cons: I didn't expect such thoughtfulness.
"Chasing Amy" is another film from writer/director Kevin Smith. It's an examination of relationships, both platonic and romantic, and human sexuality. The film is well acted, thoughtful and insightful, despite its sensitive subject matter....

Pros: Excellent Acting, Dialogue, ORIGINAL, real love Cons: cliched in some respects, not enough emphasis on some of the characters
Love is seldom rational or responsible in its thinkings; it seldom makes sense to those who witness it from the outside. It is as illogical and mercurial as poets and philosophers have made it out to be over the years. This is where Chasing...

Pros: Funny and insightful look at a tough relationship Cons: I guess if you're a lesbian you may not like the switch back of Alyssa
Kevin Smith gained cult fame and critical praise for his first feature length film, the hysterical comedy, "Clerks" about a day in the life of two polar opposite clerks. One works at a video store harassing customers and leaving at anytime...

Pros: Excellent acting and brilliant something-for-everyone dialouge make this a must see. Cons: If anything, inappropriate for most pre-teens and even some teens. But what else do you expect from Kevin Smith?
While you may not know it, I'm actually a good fan of love stories. Don't take this the wrong way. Straight out romance flicks, I don't know how they survive in the box office and I don't want to know. However, every once in a while, I'll pick up on a...

Pros: Some funny scenes and realistic dialogue Cons: Lots of slow scenes, weird and unsatisfying ending
There's gotta be something wrong with me. I think I'm the only person in the world that didn't like Chasing Amy. Please don't hate me or ostracize me or take me off your trust list. I just didn't like it.
I liked Clerks, I hated Mallrats...

Pros: actors who work well together, great story Cons: none
Kevin Smith's third film goes beyond witty patter and weird adventures in suburbia (not that there's anything wrong with that) and takes on more seriously the topics of relationships and societal values. "Chasing Amy" is an excellent movie...

Pros: The Kevin Smith movie with the most feeling and romance, great acting, very funny, Jay and Silent Bob Cons: Too vulgar for some.
First off Is have to say that i am a huge Kevin Smith fan. I love all his movies, however this one stands out from the rest. Chasing Amy, I feel, is Kevin Smith's emotional film. It is not just the goof ball antics of Clerks and Mall...

Pros: wacko story told wth depth and sensitivity and non parodying humor Cons: ending???
From the director of the wildly funny Clerks and the wildly UNfunny Mallrats, Kevin Smith, comes perhaps the most staggeringly dead-on analysis of the complexities of friendship and romance among generation X-ers yet filmed.
Despite many of...
