Stephen Chow destroys Journey To The West. Buddha help us all.

by JavaDevil , Jul 09 '01
Pros: Hilarious. One of Stephen Chow's best.
Cons: Confounding enough to warrant at least a second viewing to get everything straight.
Sometimes I wonder why I watch Stephen Chow movies at all. When you get right down to it, he's essentially Hong Kong's answer to Adam Sandler. He's always playing a hapless loser (sometimes, a guy at the top of his game who suffers a fall from grace, to...

A Chinese Odyssey Part 1: Pandora's Box. Prepare to be confused

by degeneration , Nov 22 '03
Pros: Some really funny moments. Stephen Chow, Ng Man Tat & Karen Mok!
Cons: Confusing. Some not too funny moments.
This review is based on the Hong Kong Megastar region 0 DVD release of the film. This review with screen grabs, along with other reviews of Asian films, can be found on my website at www.darkdragonstyle.tk. The Film Stephen Chow is ...

Smart satire or typical Steven Chow farce? You decide.

by alexhanlei , Dec 26 '99
Pros: Hilarious lines, good acting and epic story
Cons: Pure silliness. Attempt to integrate disparate movie styles not always successful
A Chinese Odyssey, Part I: Pandora's box and Part II: Cinderella are actually one movie. It is inspired by the very well known novel Journey to the West, or Monkey King, written during the Qing dynasty. Journey to the West was a fairly whimsical tale in...

Shame on the writers for this movie

by funn_lim , Mar 18 '00
Pros: It has its moments but too few
Cons: Nothing is similiar to the real story of Journey To The West. What we have here is a revised version.
Though I have been a fan of Steven Chow ever since his days as a small time comedian in TVB,I can't help but notice how much he had embarrassed himself with this movie. No doubt that he is funny, but some things should never be changed, especially those...

Yammie Lam Kit Ying is Beautiful

by honloo , Oct 17 '01
Pros: Yammie Lam Kit Ying is Beautiful
Cons: Karen Mok is stupid
Got to watch this. Yammie Lam Kit Ying was so beautiful as the devil spider. In the desert, all the bad guys jaw drop when they see Yammie, especially her rose tatoo. When Yammie was trying to kill Stephen chow, he tricked her and use a shrap object...

One of the funnier movies from Stephen Chow!

by princessducky , May 26 '02
Pros: Hilarious!!!
Cons: It was a bit confusing at times!
I thought this was hilarious. I didn't think I would like this movie considering I don't like the older stories. I don't even know if I really got the story. I just thought the movie was hilarious.

Stephen Chow and Ng Man Tat are such a great...
