Pros: Excellent cast. Cons: Everything else.
Even though I squirmed throughout the entirety of Eyes Wide Shut, I did appreciate what I interpreted as its theme. Infidelity, whether in the mind or in the flesh, is still infidelity. This objective, however, could have been reached through...

Pros: Performances, Screenplay and Direction are all Brilliant Cons: May make people uneasy - either by length or subject matter
After months, even years of rumors and bad press surrounding this film, Stanley Kubrick’s final chapter to his film career turns out to be one of his best. I was stunned at how much I liked this movie and how willing I am to sit through it again. ...

Pros: none Cons: the movie
My husband made the big mistake of buying this movie a few weeks ago. He saw Tom Cruise and thought action and since we purchased our new DVD player and surround sound system, he figured he would by it. We have a few Tom Cruise movies in our collection...

Pros: Named Stars, Excellent Cinematography. Cons: Long drawn out movie, abridged, and no true closure.
Hype is one of the best tools of promoting a masterpiece. Big name stars add immensely to a movies overall appeal as well. But only true creativity and substance can satisfy the hunger and thirst of a depraved audience. Eyes Wide Shut enticed many of...

Pros: Surreal quality; strength of acting; few
tense moments; excellent dialogue Cons: Mammoth running length, but it's worth
it
Director Stanley Kubrick, a meticulous craftsmen consumed by
the desire to get every frame right, was, by 1999, revered
for his classic films "A Clockwork Orange", his version of
Stephen King's "The Shining", and "Dr. Strangelove". When...

Pros: superb acting & flawless cinematography/editing Cons: excessively deliberate
Outstanding Feature(s)
Fans of Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise should go just to see them act together. If nothing else, this film showcases their talent, looks, and professionalism.
Rife with naked shots of a specific...

Pros: Great theme song; very unusual film with much dialogue stated visually instead of verbally Cons: Stiff and contrived acting, too many serious scenes that end up comical
When I saw the previews of "Eyes Wide Shut" on television, and read of all the hoopla surrounding its production, I knew I wanted to see it. Also, I was intrigued by the name "Eyes Wide Shut" - I had the impression that this would be...

Pros: Lelee Sobieski doesn't speak once. Cons: Everyone else does.
He bored himself to death. I have heard he spent 2 YEARS making this movie. Now I have no doubts - the extraordinary effort required to make this piece of garbage remotely palatable was just too stressful for him.
The plot: Tom Cruise and...

Pros: Nicole Kidman nude, plus a couple of references to "Cather in the Rye" which I'm sure a lot of people missed Cons: Kidman could've had a bigger part, the music gets annoying
As the self appointed #1 super fan of Stanley Kubrick (but that doesn't mean my epinions of his films are biased!), I must say that I was somewhat disapponted by this film, his final hurrah. I still immensley enjoyed it, but it just wasn't as good as any...

Pros: Interesting interaction between Cruise and Kidman Cons: Dull, boring, made little sense on why we as an audience should see this.
I really tried to love Eyes Wide Shut. After all, it has Nicole Kidman and Tom Cruise in it. I also understand the vision that Kubrick has tried to give us uncivilized peasants, but I just didn't get the film.
Cruise and Kidman play Dr....

Pros: Lots of nudity if that's what you're looking for, start's out well.... Cons: TOOO long, surprisingly unsexy, takes itself too seriously.
It started out well enough. My husband and I, looking for a sexy movie to end our evening with. The movie itself begins with Nicole Kidman's character (Mrs. Harford) undressing and redressing for a party. They seem to be a good couple as they begin to...

Pros: not many Cons: confusing, Nicole Kidman
First off, let me say that I am a huge Stanley Kubrick fan. My video collection would be hollow without his movies like 2001, Full Metal Jacket, The Shining, Clockwork Orange or Dr. Strangelove. This is going to be a contradictory sounding opinion,...

Pros: very imaginative, suspenseful, frightening, and erotic Cons: tom cruise and nicole kidman almost ruined the film completely
I am, like all film snobs, a huge Kubrick fan. I believe that what I saw when I watched "Eyes Wide Shut" was a true Kubrick original, a masterpiece that like most of Kubrick's films will not truly be recognized until some passage of time. ...

Pros: Tom Cruise, though his acting was similar to that brilliant performance from early 1980's saga "Losing It". Cons: THE WHOLE FILM!!!!!!!!!
I hope I don't make any mortal enemies with this review because it's not going to be pretty.
This was absolutely the worst movie I've seen in a loooooooong time!
I can't believe Tom Cruise (aka Bill Hartford, MD) is the same actor that amazed...

Pros: acting, concept, theme, story Cons: editing
Summary: Dr. William 'Bill' Harford (Tom Cruise) has a successful medical practice in a large city. He also has a beautiful wife, Alice (Nicole Kidman), and a wonderful daughter, Helena (Madison Eginton). But he might lose all of that... to sex. ...
