Did you ever have someone in authority tell you something that you thought was really weird? Then you can identify with Joshua, the Israelite leader so aptly portrayed by Larry the Cucumber in this Veggie Tales video. After years of wandering in the ...
Pros: Encourages listening to God's direction instead of taking the easy way out. Cons: The Silly Song - The Song of the Cebu - is ridiculous and not entertaining.
Direct teaching of stories from the Bible seems to be rather "boring" to most kids as just being words. And I really don't blame them, because when I was going to Sunday School, I thought all of this stuff was BORING too. I believe that contributed to...
Pros: Promotes family Christian values, catchy songs, great animation, teaches a moral to every story, great characters...need I go on? Cons: They are not on TV yet.
You know, I am so distraught with television programming, let alone children's programming now a days, I have actually considered throwing my TV out the window. The junk coming over the airwaves today is nothing more than offensive, lewd lacking in...
Pros: catchy songs, great way to teach little kids about Joshua and the Wall of Jericho Cons: some of the creative liberties added may confuse a very young audience
The VeggieTales are a computer animated videos that integrate biblical lessons with fun songs and stories... All brought to you by your favorite vegetables. In this episode we follow God's Children as they travel through the dessert, and come...
Pros: Cute, catchy songs, teaches, good for any age Cons: none that I can think of
We bought this movie for my 2 year old named Joshua, my husband and I thought he would get a kick out of hearing his name in a movie. He doesn't seem to care about that but, he does love this movie.
Pros: Humor to appeal to all ages. Cons: None from my view.
As usual Veggie Tales takes a biblical story which teaches a lesson in ethics and gives it an hysterical turn. The humor is wonderful mix of sophistication and slapstick. All ages are entertained.
Pros: Great lesson, sense of humor Cons: Animation can be choppy at times
I love Veggie Tales – in fact, you might be hard-pressed to find anyone who doesn't. I first saw "Dave and the Giant Pickle" while babysitting my fiancee's younger siblings -- they are 9 and 11. They love Veggie Tales.
Pros: stimulates family discussion Cons: inaccurate portrayals, condescending and ridiculing treatment of Biblical heroes
Veggie Tales scare me. I find the stories to be condescending, ridiculing and inaccurate. Far from teaching my children good Biblical principles, they seem to portray the idea that Christians are dopey more than anything.
Pros: Funny, educational Cons: None that I can tell
We first came across Veggie Tales when my mother in law bought one for our younger girls. Not knowing what the heck a "Veggie Tale" was, we popped it in the VCR and for the next half an hour we adults ROARED laughing!! Not only was the story...
Pros: kids will watch for hours, teaches about God Cons: none
Out of all the veggie Tales cartoons, this one is by far, the best! It tells the story of how God told Moses to take his people to the promised land and they got scared and ran away, so they were stuck in the desert for 40 years, when finally, with ...
Pros: Timeless story of Joshua, the children of Israel, and the wall of Jericho told humorously. Cons: Catchy tunes. :o)
Josh and the Big Wall tells the story of Moses' student, Joshua, and the children of Israel's march to Jericho. For the most part, this VeggieTape keeps with the story in the Bible. (Except for the grape slushies!)
This is by far my most favorite VeggieTale Video to date. I am a CHildren's Pastor and while I do not use videos to teach, I do reccommend VeggieTales for an alternative to "secular" cartoons. Bob and Larry can attract people from very young...
Pros: Fairly good kids version of bible story. Tries to teach a good lesson Cons: Not for the preschool ages. Needs some accompanying discussion and explanation for older kids.
“Josh and the Big Wall” tells the bible story of Joshua leading the Israelites to the promised land and their fight to reclaim their land from Jericho. Obviously, this is done using vegetables as the characters, and is written to proclaim the message...
Pros: Entertaining way of telling the story of Joshua that appeals to kids, good special features Cons: None
This episode of Veggietales is about obedience. This episode is unique in that it features Bob the Tomato and Junior the Asparagus as the countertop duo helping answer a letter instead of it being Bob and Larry the Cucumber. It is also different in ...
Pros: Wonderfully animated -- A Great Story Cons: None
When my son was about to start kindergarten we were in the mall shopping and we came across a Christian bookstore. Curious as to the items within, we ventured into the store. There we discovered many things but none so interesting as the Veggie Tale...
