Pros: This is one of the best movies I have ever seen Cons: None
I have seen Magnolia 5 times at least and love it more each time I see it. I must say this is truly one of the best films I have ever seen.
Magnolia is that it is built loosely on the principal that people are connected by six degrees of...

Pros: A masterpiece of filmmaking and a great American Story. Cons: It is long, but well worth sitting through.
I rented this movie, because it was released, the soundtrack by Amiee Mann is fantastic and I was a little bored, so I rented this movie. I didn't know what to expect, but from beginning to end this movie had me.
First off I want to...

Pros: Incredible performances Cons: Almost every scene could have been cut by at least 3 or 4 minutes. An entire sequence between John C. Reilly and a crazy woman, went nowhere.
I would like to thank P.T. Anderson for wasting 80 minutes of my life. That's about how much I think he could've cut out, and still gotten across the same message effectively. How could you mess up such a great setup?
Dying Father wants to...

Pros: good acting Cons: The entire stinking thing!
Ok, what is the deal with Tom Cruise? I hated "Eyes Wide Shut" but "Magnolia" was even worse! The movie is a tale of Tom, the creator of "Seek and Destroy" some type of seminars that tell men how to "conquer"...

Pros: Good character acting Cons: Poor storytelling, no theme, no message
No viewing experience resembles anticipatory torture so much as the three hour hell known as Magnolia.
The movie begins with a likable premise: seeming coincidences are happening around us all the time, but closer investigation invariably...

Pros: Great performances, stylish direction Cons: Some muddy sound in spots
People either love this movie or hate it...there is no middle ground. I happen to think that it's a pretty incredible film, even though it really makes the viewer work at figuring out what it all means.
Basically, I think this movie looks at the...

Pros: incredible actors Cons: LONG LONG LONG LONG
I will make it brief, unlike the amount of time Magnolia took out of my life.
Truth be told, the movie wasn't bad. The ideas behind it were interesting, and most of the actor's performances were fabulous. Tom Cruise deserved any praise he...

Pros: after what seemed like an eternity, it came to an end Cons: the list is too long to write here, see review body
I love independent art house films just as much as the next pretentious yuppie, don't get me wrong, but they have to have a point. Now I will grant that it is possible that I completely missed the point of this "film," although I gave it plenty of...

Pros: Great cast Cons: Bizarre plot line and ending
I kept hearing the Aimee Mann song from this movie and would remind myself that I did want to see it, after all the good word of mouth that it had gotten. So finally, one weekend when my husband was out of town (a great time to be able to see all those...

Pros: The frogs were impressive. Some excellent acting. Cons: Long and boring. Poorly edited.
This movie fairly reeks of unfulfilled potential. Unfortunately, it frequently strains so hard for greatness that you may find yourself laughing hysterically. "Magnolia" is NOT a bad movie: it is exquisite, pompous, and absolutely without...

Pros: Best "Connect the Dots" movie since The Sixth Sense Cons: Make sure you have a comfortable chair.
Magnolia, P.T. Anderson's follow up to Boogie Nights, was one of those rare movies that has you either (1) Going to the movie in the theater again to see what you missed or (2) thanking God that you have a DVD player to review what you just have seen....

Pros: Brilliant, ironic, astonishing Cons: A bit long
There is no better word that "brilliant" to describe this movie.
I found it difficult describing the movie to people when i insisted they see it the night after i had been encountered with the master-piece. How do you explain a movie with...

Pros: Dark. Stunning. Exhilerating. A spare and lush snapshot of incoherence. Cons: May not be the film for you.
This film is a tapestry of many people's moments in a single day. These moments have all the shock of learning from a doctor that you have six months to live. A gameshow host suffers a nervous breakdown while the cameras are rolling. A police officer...

Pros: Cast Cons: Stupid plot, unlikeable characters
Yes, I get it. Yes, I understand that the creme-de-la-creme of cafe society probably love the movie, "Magnolia." I beg to differ.
Depsite what the director was TRYING to do, & maybe even if he did it, this movie thrust upon the...

Pros: In depth story line, real tear jerker Cons: none
I tell you I haven't seen a movie this well in years. It has a classic Shakespearean feel. I mean did you ever notice that all the movies out now days are all fluff with special effects being the only redeeming point. Well not this one, don’t get me...
