Pros: Really accurate Cons: Boring during some parts
Andy Kauffman was without a doubt one of the most brilliant comedians of any time, but who was he? Was he Latka? Was he the girl wrestling man? Was he the weirdo? Or was he all of the above? This is the true story of comedian Andy Kauffman. This movie...

Pros: Great Casting, well made drama, great comedy, Jim Carrey as a serious comic actor Cons: Some who don't know of Kaufmans work may not follow the movie fully the first time. A bit slow in the beginning for the average Carrey fan.
I saw this movie because I like Jim Carrey's work. (aside from the Cable Guy) I knew a little about Andy Kaufman. I always thought of him as the weird mechanic guy on TAXI and thought the combination of the two should make for an interesting movie. I was...

Pros: Cool Characters and Interesting plot Cons: Tony Clifton! actually, he is pretty cool too...
Jim Carrey as Andy Kaufman? That's what I'm sure most everyone thought going into Man on the Moon, however, after seeing this masterpiece of acting by a man more famous for Ace Ventura, seeing is believing!
This movie is interesting, and...

Pros: Thoroughly funny and entertaining; vivid, accurate depiction of subject; uncanny performance by Carrey Cons: Continuity errors and only surface depth given to Kaufman's love interest
I've been having difficulty in getting my reviews posted in their entirety. I'll try to be more succinct this time. Milos Forman has become a director who specializes in making vibrant biographies of brilliant outcasts who were so gifted and innovative...

Pros: GOOD humor... Cons: ...only if you understand the humor
I'll admit it, I like Jim Carrey. I love him, actually. There is no need to elaborate about the joy I feel when I watch his movies. However, there are those out there that absolutely hate him. Nothing he does amuses them and The Mask was just NOT...

Pros: Characterizations that envelope you and bring you into the film. Cons: I would have liked to see his childhood explored a little more.
I went to see "Man on the Moon" on a whim. Perhaps, I was subconsciously emulating Andy Kaufman. My husband and I had spent a miserable afternoon at the DMV (doesn't everyone), and he offered to make the evening better with dinner and a...

Pros: great acting, writing, well-directed, killer music Cons: continuity errors, not enough biographical stuff
First of all, I'm not Andy Kaufman. I don't care what anybody says. I mean, don't get me wrong, Andy Kaufman was a genius and a personal hero of mine since I was twelve years old but in no way, shape, or form does my life mirror or resemble the life of...

Pros: Jim Carrey Cons: The wrestling
Last night there was nothing else on except for the movie I am now typing a review up on now. This will be done from the perspective of someone who had never really heard of Andy Kauffman till Man on the Moon came out. But I had seen a few episodes of...

Pros: Acting and Directing is superb Cons: It does help to know Andy Kaufman
Milos Forman has a talent: Capturing genius on film. In 1984 he took us into a side of Mozart most of us never knew. Now, in 1999, he preserves the genius that was (or is???) Andy Kaufman. The plot is simply Andy Kaufman's life.
It has been...

Pros: Carrey's "impersonation" of Kaufman, Bob Zmuda character Cons: paper thin plot, not enough of a story to make a feature movie
Andy Kaufman misunderstood comic genius? Jim Carrey misunderstood Andy Kaufman impersonator? The answer to both of these questions is yes. Jim Carrey turns in another lame dramatic acting attept in director Milos Foreman's "Man on the Moon"....

Pros: Jim Carrey's performance is dead-on as Andy Kaufman Cons: This film, though it is two hours long, omits many key facts in Kaufman's life.
I have to admit, I have always enjoyed cheap laughs from the early movies by Jim Carrey. I also enjoyed watching re-runs of the hit sitcom "Taxi" with the late Andy Kaufman. So of course I was eager to see this film where Carrey portrays...

Pros: Batty, wild, original, Cons: stressful, cruel
I went to see this movie because my husband wanted to see it. He grew up with an awareness of Andy Kaufman and was able to appreciate the non-Taxi references. I grew up in the UK, protected from the wrestling and Letterman pranks - I essentially...

Pros: Extremely Funny Cons: not for everyone.
I liked this movie because it was my kind of humor. I like to laugh hysterically at things that most people consider rude and obnoxious. Andy Kaufman was rude and obnoxious, but hilarious. Much of this film is just Jim Carrey staring at the screen in a...

Pros: very funny, brilliant acting Cons: not very original
Andy Kaufman. Andy Kaufman. Andy Kaufman.
Jim Carrey becomes Andy Kaufman in this biopic. Unfortunately, the writers, the director and the actors give the viewer only a superficial view of the comic genius. Yes, the movie is funny...if you think...

Pros: Carey is fantastic Cons: Poor writing, choppy plot, seems untrue
Like NASA's first attempts to hit the moon with a large rocket, this movie missed by several thousand stellar miles.
Don't get me wrong, Jim Carey was brilliant. The viewer quickly forgets one is watching Jim Carey as Andy Kaufman and sees...
