Pros: Good cast, pretty funny Cons: Lots of absurdity, too much slapstick
The Whole Nine Yards was better the first time...when it was called 'Analyze This'. However, it has plenty of laughs and some neat plot twists that will help you get over some of the absurdity that goes on in this movie.
Pros: funny, keeps you on your toes Cons: nudity, murder taken lightly
My husband and I love to watch movies. We don’t get to the theaters as often as we would like, but we do rent videos quite often. We are both particularly fond of comedies, and always on the lookout for something to make us laugh.
Pros: Amanda Peet, Natasha Henstridge and Kevin Pollak spice up the supporting cast Cons: The leads--Matthew Perry and Bruce Willis--drag it down. And don't EVEN get me started on Rosanna Arquette!
In the middle-of-the-road comedy The Whole Nine Yards, Matthew Perry gets the kind of role that would have gone to Jack Lemmon in his heyday (back when he was a Testy Young Man). Watching this fish-out-of-water (or, dentist-in-gangland, if you...
Pros: Laugh-Out-Loud Funny! Cons: Sappy and Sometimes Too Silly.
Comedy and murder go together about as well as dinner and a movie. It just makes sense. After all, who can forget how funny it was to see Robert DeNiro in Analyze This as a mob boss weighed down by irritating problems that are similar to...
Pros: VERY VERY FUNNY, GOOD ACTING Cons: NOT LONG ENOUGH - NEED PART II
I go to the Movies at least once a week. I wasn't sure which Movie to see this week since I was interested in 5 new ones I had not seen. I decided on the one that looked like it was very funny. I was in one of those kind of moods where a needed to...
Pros: Humor, Montreal, Sound Track and Score, Matthew Perry, Amanda Peet Cons: Natasha Henstridge, Pollack's Hungarian accent, frivolous nature of the flick
In spite of the grandiose nature of the superstar headliner, this is a slapstick-funny SIMPLE comedy. Directed by Jonathan Lynn, this follows in the same tradition as MY COUSIN VINNY without the sentimentality. It has no moral message, and you can sit...
Pros: Slapstick comedy with funny plot. Very charming. Cons: Rosanna Arquette is not up to the same level of comedic talent as the others in this film.
This movie was fun! All the way. Honest. Truly, madly, deeply. I swear to Heaven's Gate. It wasn't perfect but I laughed at this bit of farcical fluff from director, Jonathan Lynn (Clue, Nuns On The Run, My Cousin Vinny, Greedy, Sgt. Bilko, Trial and...
Pros: There aren't any other "Friends" actors in this movie. Cons: A "plot" that can't be saved by Peet shaking her money-makers, sorry sweetheart.
Sadly enough, sage advice proffered by Jimmy "The Tulip" Tudeski (Bruce Willis) to aspiring contract killer Jill(Amanda Peet) can apply just as easily to the audience and this movie: "Don't get too close." No really, you might catch something. Like...
I like Jonathan Lynn. He makes unashamedly goofball comedies, like My Cousin Vinny and Greedy and Clue. They're the type of film that make some critics say something stupid like "...recalls the screwball comedies of the 30's..." Well, I don't...
It's movies like "The Whole Nine Yards" that make me wish epinions structured ratings at the more granular level of stars and half stars. I'd like to give this movie 3 1/2 stars out of 5, because it's a little better than average, yet certainly...
Pros: one of the better comedies so far this year... Cons: nothing groundbreaking...
This is what I went to see when I luckily talked my girlfriend out of seeing Scream 3. You see I wasn't too enthralled with seeing it again, so I closed my eyes and put my finger down, and low and behold it landed on a movie The Whole Nine...
Pros: Great story and actors - FUNY MOVIE Cons: Nothing really
This movie I went to see couple month ago with my wife when it was shown in the theatres. Yesterday I bought this movie on DVD, because my wife and I rally liked it and always wanted to own it on VHS or DVD.
Pros: Perry is sooooo funny, so is Peele, not a bad plot Cons: Arquette's accent
I have to say I laughed through most of "The Whole Nine Yards." This movie was funny. And what made it funny was the bumbling of Nicholas Oseransky (Oz,) played by Matthew Perry, who shines in this movie. This has to be his funniest movie...
Pros: Hilarious. Great actors, twisted plot, well-directed. Cons: Some minor roles aren't as well-done.
Poor Oz.
Not only is the guy married to a harpie-shrew from hell, he's a dentist -- a profession that people seem to like to remind him has one of the highest suicide rates among jobs. His wife, the daughter of his former business partner,...
