Pros: Learned about the life of rehab Cons: The ending could have been a little better.

by greyling ,Mar 25 '05
Pros: At least it tried to be uplifting Cons: Unrealistic. Addictions aren't solved as easily as this movie implies
In this thinly veiled advertisement for a famous 12 step program Sandra Bullock plays Gwen, a young woman who gets a DUI and is offered a choice of going to jail or checking into a rehab. Naturally she picks the latter. At first she can't stand the place or the people but after a single relapse that nearly results in her being dropped from the program and sent to jail she comes around and becomes the ideal rehab patient. Along the way her character becomes a lot less likeable and by the end of the movie you'll either want to shake her or almost hope that her jerk of a boyfriend, who takes her back to her favorite hangout, actually persuades her to loosen up and drink something stronger than ginger ale.
