Pros: Harlan Pepper character. Cons: The rest of the characters and script.
While I was watching this I thought, this movie looks like a clone of Spinal Tap about a dog show. Little did I know the director are one and the same until I was enlightened by the other epinioners around here. None the less, I could smell the scent of...

Pros: At times hilarious, and characters that are deliciously ridiculous. Cons: Mean spirited in mocking some seriously disturbed people who make dogs their whole world.
Best in Show is a scathing attack against, of all people, Dog Show freaks. This movie has generally the same appeal as the Jerry Springer show, that is that you feel generally superior to everyone in the film. The film follows several sets of...

Pros: Excellent comedic effort. Cons: Distant at times.
I’m going to go out on a limb here and say that it’s okay to make fun of people. There are, certainly, some rules to the people you can make fun of (or the sets of people you can make fun of), but surely there are some. That being said,...

Pros: It ended well, I guess Cons: I was bored, the jokes weren't funny, I wasted my money
The best acting in this movie was done by the dogs. There was a great deal of star power and yet no one shined. I immediately knew that I wouldn't like the movie because the actors began talking to the viewer. I have never really cared much for movies...

Pros: Fred Willard Tries To Save The Day Cons: Poorly Thought Out In General
What is it that makes Best in Show so disappointing? Is it the fact that a huge cast possessing great talent (Parker Posey, Fred Willard, Catherine O’Hara, Eugene Levy, etc.) can’t produce more than a few guffaws in the course of the 2 hour film?...

Pros: Lots of laughs, good alternative to 'normal' movies. Cons: Some unpleasant moments difficult to watch.
Boy am I glad that I'm not a show dog kinf of person. I would hate to have to live my life vicariously through the dogs. Altho, my life would be funny to watch.
In case you haven't noticed, Best in Show is Christopher Guest's mockumentary...

Pros: The dogs were cute is the best that I could say. Cons: Incredibly offensive and not at all funny.
"Best in Show" has got to be one of the all time worst movies that I have ever rented. People had told me that it was hilarious, and I can't for the life of me figure out why!
It was a very odd style of a movie, in that it appeared to be as...

Pros: A campy comedy. Cons: Slow, dim-witted, dumb, awful.
We view the major characters in their home settings, preparing to take their dogs to a classy dog show. Figuring it has to get better, we keep watching. Half way through the show we decide to go ahead and watch it to the end thinking, we paid for it, we...

Pros: Parker Posey!, A few Witty lines. Cons: The Plot is very plain and this could easily have been a pbs documentary.
Okay, The Plot of the movie is plain and simple...A dog show. The film is semi documentary, Think "Drop Dead Gorgeous"...You get introduced to the dogs and their owner which range from a gay couple with a shizu to a redneck fishman from north carolina...

Pros: If you liked Spinal Tap or Waiting for Guffman WATCH THIS MOVIE!!! Cons: If you are actually very serious about dog shows....stay away.
I open by saying this movie is not for everyone. People who are into dog shows will most definitely hate it (this is what I have noticed anyway). However, if you are a fan of Christopher Guest's movies, such as "Spinal Tap" and "Waiting for Guffman,"...

Pros: Humorously shows the hubris of show-dog owners. Cons: Fabulously funny, and sometimes fabulously mean-spirited.
Ever since I brought home The Cell (short on the high heels of Chuck & Buck), I have had a standing instruction to not get anything "weird or non-linear" from the video store. The DVD jacket for Best in Show looked innocent enough -- people...

Pros: Hilarious and fun... takes some real potshots at the AKC clowns and their puppy pageants! Cons: Not quite up to Waiting for Guffman
Christopher Guest has made a career of the satirical "documentary" beginning with This Is Spinal Tapp and continuing on to the tour de force Waiting for Guffman. Best In Show falls somewhere in between.
Eugene Levy,...

Pros: Improvised dialogue and performances results in comic gold. Cons: It's a little too light (and over too quick)
Considering the cult status of This is Spinal Tap (1984) and critical acclaim of Waiting for Guffman (1997), it's hardly a surprise that Christopher Guest (star of Tap, writer/star of Guffman) has chosen to take the mockumentary route once again. This...

Pros: Fast paced, never a dull moment Cons: Announcer was a little over the top
The format of this movie was very different from what I expected and from most movies I have seen. Instead of a flowing story line that followed people as they interacted with each other, none of the characters ever really interacted with each other at...

Pros: Fred Willard Cons: If Willard wasnt on the screen, I wasnt laughing.
When I was a kid, my parents would take me to Playland in Rye, New York. I have great memories of this little non-Six Flags amusement park. I remember the little coaster I went on with my brother, where if you survived it twice in a row without...
