Pros: Best in Show goes after mean-spirited people . . . Cons: . . . in a mean-spirited way.
Philosopher Thomas Hobbes says that we laugh when we feel superior to something or someone. If that's true, then the laughter should absolutely never stop in Best in Show, Christopher Guest's scathing mockumentary on people who not only take...

Pros: Christopher Guest (Princess Bride's Count Rugen) proves he's one of the smartest satirists in Hollywood Cons: Some of the jokes and improv fall flat
When I was a mere soft-headed lad of pre-puberty, I was in love with a dog.
His name was Shane, he was a Chocolate Labrador Retriever and, to me, he represented everything good about life. My dog was a warm island in an increasingly-baffling...

Pros: Hilarious deadpan humor. Cons: This is the third mockumentary. Not quite as fresh as it used to be.
To the casual observer, dog shows seem pretty silly, but to those involved, it's vitally important. As the third subject for mockumentary filmmaker Christopher Guest (THIS IS SPINAL TAP, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN) the dog world proves to be fertile ground)....

Pros: Extremely funny! Cons: I couldn't beleive it was over when it ended, too bad.
This is by far one of the funniest movies out there. I loved it. The characters were so rich, and the acting was superb. Most of the movie acting was improve and the reality of the characters made me feel like this was a real documentary. Good stuff....

Pros: Funny characters, and a pretty biting satire Cons: No real plot, unrealistic characters (I hope).
Best in Show is a satire of dog shows and the people who participate in them. Even though it is completely fictional, much of it is presented as if it was a documentary. However, some parts go much deeper than a real documentary would go, making the...

Pros: dogs are cute, the guy with 2 left feet Cons: the movie
Another movie I was looking forward to watching that fell flat. It's almost like watching home movies. It follows several couples getting ready to compete in the Mayflower dog show. It's filmed like a home movie with interviews. The interviews are kind...

Pros: The improvising cast is hilarious. Cons: Though good in its own way, the film cannot compare to Waiting for Guffman.
(Dir: Christopher Guest, Starring Eugene Levy, Catherine O'Hara, Christopher Guest, John Michael Higgins, Michael McKean, Parker Posey, Michael Hitchcock, Jennifer Coolidge, Jane Lynch, Fred Willard, Jim Piddock, Bob Balaban, Don Lake, Patrick Cranshaw,...

Pros: funny story and characters Cons: what cons? I can't think of any.
This would be the best comedy film of the year. The humor and energy in this mockumentary from director/co-star Christopher Guest is more amazing when the viewer realizes it was done by its amazing cast. Guest and Eugene Levy came up with the plot for...

Pros: parker posey, and newcomers steal the scenes Cons: improv seems lazy and is annoying
I must begin with saying that I am a huge fan of mockumentaries. I loved even,
"Drop Dead Gorgeous" with Kirsten Dunst. I'm an even bigger fan of Christopher
Guest. I consider him the master of comic improv. His classic performance as
...

Pros: A few good one liners. Cons: Utterly predictable and safe in both form and content.
This film takes the form of a mock documentary about a regional dog show, following several of the contestants as they approach they show and towards the competition finale itself. It feels very similar to Spinal Tap, another mockumentary in which...

Pros: Beautiful canines Cons: Boring movie
This pseudo documentary/comedy, directed by Christopher Guest, who plays a part in this film himself, attempts to tell the story behind some real losers or should I say, "interesting individuals" who are possessed with showing their dogs in the Mayflower...

Pros: Some good characters, Some funny scenes, Cute doggies Cons: Some useless characts, Some lame scenes, Forgettable
Best In Show is a mock-umentary about a dog show. The movie is entertaining enough, I suppose, but it just wasn't quite suited to my tastes.
The Mayflower Dog Show, held in Philadelphia, is one of America's most prestigious dog shows....

Pros: Awesome Performances. Continuous Laughter. Creative Genius. Cons: None!
I love this movie.
Christopher Guest, director and co-writer with Eugene Levy, once again outdoes himself. If you are not familiar with his movies (i.e. Waiting for Guffman, This is Spinal Tap...) this is a great one to start. Guest is a...

Pros: Funny and Fred Willard steals the movie Cons: Some of the characters are too over the top
You couldn't pay me to attend a real dog show but I sure got my money's worth watching this funny spoof of dog shows.
I liked Christopher Guest's Waiting for Guffman so I decided to give this movie a try. Although not as satisfying as...

Pros: laugh-out-loud funny Cons: none
Any movie with Christopher Guest (Waiting for Guffman) is a howler and this one is no exception.
I haven't seen this kind of fine ensemble casting since the glory days of Robert Altman. These are some of the finest comic actors working...
