Pros: Very funny, steady pace, keeps you guessing Cons: Young kids might have questions
With comedic greats like Eugene Levy and Catherine O'Hara, how could "Best In Show" go wrong? It didn't! Personally, I don't laugh out loud very often at movies, but I did at this one.
This wonderful spoof is a hilarious marriage of...

Pros: great cast and plenty of laughs Cons: nothing major
This latest directorial effort from Christopher Guest, who also brought us (and acted in) Waiting for Guffman, is another funny, freewheeling (much is apparently improvised) parody. This time the target is dog shows. While it isn’t quite as good as...

Pros: very very funny Cons: don't care who wins
When you go to see Best in Show (and you should definitely see it), make sure you pick a theatre that plays the movie LOUD. Why? Two reasons:
(1) expect the theatre to be packed with hysterically laughing people; (2) [not unrelated to the first]...

Pros: Hilarious deadpan humor. Cons: This is the third mockumentary. Not quite as fresh as it used to be.
To the casual observer, dog shows seem pretty silly, but to those involved, it's vitally important. As the third subject for mockumentary filmmaker Christopher Guest (THIS IS SPINAL TAP, WAITING FOR GUFFMAN) the dog world proves to be fertile ground)....

Pros: hilarious, non- predictable, short Cons: no depth, but who cares?
I wasn't sure if I wanted to see this movie at first as I have always thought dog shows are ridiculous, pretentious, and exploit animals, but I really enjoyed this movie.
There are laughs from the beginning to the end as we follow a wide...

Pros: Awesome Performances. Continuous Laughter. Creative Genius. Cons: None!
I love this movie.
Christopher Guest, director and co-writer with Eugene Levy, once again outdoes himself. If you are not familiar with his movies (i.e. Waiting for Guffman, This is Spinal Tap...) this is a great one to start. Guest is a...

Pros: very good cast, plot, setting Cons: hard to find any
BEST IN SHOW takes its title from the final and ultimate prize at a kennel club annual competition. First there is the prize for Best in Breed - which toy poodle is prettier than all the other toy poodles, then there's Best in Group - is this...

Pros: Humor, Dogs, and a show, who could ask for more? Cons: too short
Why do I love my dog? Probably for the same reason these people love their dogs too much. Anyone who has a beloved four-legged friend should definitely see this film. I call it a film because is neither a movie nor a documentary for real.
The...

Pros: FUNNIEST MOVIE OF THE YEAR! Cons: NO CAR CHASES, EXPLOSIONS, MARTIAL ARTS, KICKS IN THE GROIN....
"It is the best of drugs. It is the worst of drugs." If Chuck Dickens had ever written a novel about cocaine, instead of wasting his time on silly stuff like the French Revolution, it might very well have begun in this way.
I never...

Pros: parker posey, and newcomers steal the scenes Cons: improv seems lazy and is annoying
I must begin with saying that I am a huge fan of mockumentaries. I loved even,
"Drop Dead Gorgeous" with Kirsten Dunst. I'm an even bigger fan of Christopher
Guest. I consider him the master of comic improv. His classic performance as
...

Pros: . Cons: .
The quieter strokes furnish the noisiest laughs in "Best in Show," the new Christopher Guest mockumentary that gives the fru-fru subculture of dog shows the satirical razzing small-town community theater endured in Guest's uproarious...

Pros: The funniest movie of the year Cons: Christopher Guest doesn't make movies often enough
I can’t remember the last time I’ve broke into tears after fully loosing my composure in theaters, not since Mystery Science Theater 3000: The Movie (1996) have I laughed so consistently. The film forces a giant smile one your face and doesn’t let up...

Pros: Great acting, funny dialogue Cons: What cons?
this film tickled my comedic tastebuds by addeing something new to an old idea. Improv comedy at it's finest can be found at its best in the pooch contest film. Before we get totally nuts, let's look at the plot...
This entire movie is hot...

Pros: a pleasant little film Cons: not really worth the full ticket price
I went to see "Best In Show" because I am an animal lover and I heard
a lot of good things about this movie. I found "Best In Show" to be a
pretty nice little flick with a few chuckles in it but there was nothing ...

Pros: Maybe - just maybe - Fred Willard. Cons: This is supposed to be a comedy? I didn't laugh once.
BEST IN SHOW purportedly tells the story of a group of dog fanciers who enter their dogs in a dog show. The problem is that I wasn't convinced by the script that this was the story.
Told in a stream-of-consciousness fashion similar to that...
