Pros: Excellent performances, brilliant direction, and beautiful cinematography make this well worth seeing at the theater. Cons: A few action scenes are a little over-edited, and the plot is a little too broad at times--still, these are very minor complaints.

Pros: Very artistic
Beautiful cinematography
Great costumes Cons: Very slow (a little boring)
Tries too hard
Reinforces Asian stereotypes
Summary: I can't say that it's my favorite movie. The director did a great job with the artistic side of the movie but I feel like the content is lacking. There's too much focus on trying to make it appear oriental and artistic that the human interactions appear ... read more

Pros: Lots of action, good costumes and scenery Cons: Gravity-defying stunts like the ones in this movie never look realistic.
Summary: A Mudan warrior (Chow Yun-Fat) gives his sacred, yet blood-tainted sword to his love (Michelle Yeoh) in an attempt to ease his mind after experiencing a vision. He tells her to take it to a friend of his. She, however, decides to keep it for him, and ... read more

Pros: Cinematography, story, characters, script, action. Cons: quite literally in every sense of the word, nothing.
Summary: When you hear about Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon, you may assume that, like so many Jet Li and Jackie Chan movies, the movie is all about the fighting; that the fighting creates the story. Upon seeing it for the first time, you may determine that it is ... read more

Pros: Most artistic martial arts action scenes produced to date, great acting, fine sets and cinematography Cons: Really feeble storyline
Summary: Im not a big fan of martial arts films. Fact is, Im not even a little fan of martial arts films. First off, I have no interest in gratuitous violence. Second, I actually like films to have a story. I know that sounds terribly radical ... read more

Pros: Is filled with a subdued, tranced-like aura M. Night Shyamalan can only dream of. Cons: There really isn't anything.
Summary: The title "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" is a redundancy: a tiger crouching in the long grass, ready to pounce. A dragon, concealed as well, another predator. The two title animals are symbols of passion, romantic passion, I feel. Two sets of ... read more

Pros: Special effects and symbolism Cons: You have to see it several times to really understand.
Summary: I was pretty skeptical when a guy wanted to take me to see "Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon" for our first date when it was still in theaters! By its title, I was thinking it was like a mystical Jackie Chan movie and cheesy like the title.

Pros: cast, cinematography Cons: action scenes, stunts, characters, continuity

Pros: Adventure, action, romance, and an underappreciated, beautiful storyline. Cons: Blah, the male characters are one-dimensional and no good.
Summary: Just so I don’t get tempted to make any Crouching x, Hidden y jokes I’m going to refer to this film by its Chinese name, Wo Hu Cang Long (unless you know mandarin, don’t try to pronounce it, you’ll only sound like a fool). The English ... read more

Pros: Not a three hour epic a la anything by Mel Gibson. Cons: Trite, banal, poor attempt at magical surrrealism, mildly interesting

Pros: Campy-yet-eyecatching special effects and a soundtrack that will blow your mind. Cons: Incomplete ending and a flashback period that had me snoring in my seat.
Summary: I had been itching to see this movie for a while. Though it was in Subtitles, people said it was worth seeing. I couldn't take their word for it. I had to see it for myself.
To my delight, I could toggle the subtitles and English dubbing on my DVD ... read more

Pros: Fantastic cinematography, choreography. Simple, sweet story line and great acting. Very, very entertaining. Cons: Probably won't be a sequel

Pros: Elevates the martial arts genre to a new level Cons: The plot could be more focused!

Pros: Chen Chang, Zhang Yiyi Cons: pacing
