Pros: Fascinating structure; psychologically intense; well-acted; great twists and turns Cons: Some may find it confusing....but I am not so sure that's bad.
A bullet to the head.
That's where "Memento" starts. And, it is, more or less, the end of the story. What the movie does from there is show us how we got to that point by taking the story line backwards in what is one of the most taut and...

Pros: The experiment is interesting to say the least. Cons: The ending lacks the power to meet the film's promises.
(Dir: Christopher Nolan, Starring Guy Pearce, Joe Pantoliano, Carrie-Anne Moss, Stephen Tobolowsky, Mark Boone Junior, Harriet Sansom Harris, Jorja Fox, Callum Keith Rennie, and Larry Holden)
Christopher Nolan's tour-de-force experimental film...

Pros: It actually demands something of the audience.
Cons: It's such a somber movie that it could be boring for some.
I heard about this film a little before it came out on a limited release. I heard that the Egyptian Theater in Seattle would only be playing it for about 2 weeks so I hurriedly dragged my friend to see it.
We got to the show late and ended up...

Pros: Absolutely brilliant and cunning, you will never see it coming Cons: Confusing for the youngest of us, as well as violent
This is the kind of movie the world has been waiting for, and just hasn't realized it. Memento has tricks and twists at every turn, and you never, EVER want to miss a beat. The film's slyness and trickiness might make some people worry that they've been...

Pros: Gripping. Absorbing. I found my self focusing on details like it was my life. Cons: A total and complete mind screw
Remember the last time you woke up in a hotel room? You had the feeling that your alarm clock was right there to your right, and the window next to you, and the smell of your lover’s hair and then a Leonard Cohen song comes into your head and this...

Pros: Great acting, amazingly unique storytelling. Full of surprises. Cons: Feels a little long towards the end.
I have to say that I haven't been so intrigued by a movie trailer, as MEMENTO's, in a very long time. I had never heard of the film before that and it made me seek out this limited release. For once, the trailer gave very little away, though after seeing...

Pros: a really great and ingeniously designed movie Cons: some people may get confused, I doubt it
Even though this review contains ** NO SPOILERS **, I would highly suggest that any of you interested in seeing this film, try not to read much about it, because the less you know, the more likely you are to enjoy the entire process. Trust me.

Pros: Guy Pearce is mesmerizing, excellent writing and directing enhance the film Cons: None
As I left the theater, my mind clouded with all of the images and story of the film, I realized that I had seen a great addition to the film noir canon. I pass the line of people waiting for the next showing.
The film ends and the lights come...

Pros: extremely clever script, style and format, one of the best movies of 2001 Cons: I can't remember any.
"A photo. A polaroid photo. Of a man, shot dead. The hand holding it shakes it, and slowly, the picture disappears, replaced with grim white. The hand pushes the photo back into the camera, as the body is revealed and blood comes back into the man,...

Pros: Oooh, what fun to watch the filmmaking textbook flame. Cons: Not a film to be watched lazing inattentively on a sofa.
Most film buffs who care to take a
close look at the pedigrees of most
of the movies touted as 'thrillers' these
days have the instantaneous reaction
of shaking their heads in silent,
worrisome contemplation of the

Pros: Refreshingly intelligent, original, Guy Pearce is fantastic. Cons: Some people find it too hard to follow.
That's right readers, here we have a mystery\suspense\drama that doesn't rely on flashes of flesh to make it seem as if it has been orientated toward "adults". Finally a film that gives the audience some credit, that doesn't assume we are mindless...

Pros: Tight writing; a movie that makes you think Cons: One (necessary) plot flaw
I hesitate to write about a movie already so widely reviewed, but I suspect one of the writer's central points is being overlooked. With so many excellent opinions available, I will forgo the usual synopsis and jump right to that central point.

Pros: Absolutely brilliant, from concept to implementation! Takes the Psychological Suspense genre to the edge. Cons: None
An absolutely brilliant film from Christopher Nolan. Memento will leave you engaged in its puzzle for days after seeing this movie and is sure to be discussed among those who saw it.
Everything about Memento is well made, the acting is...

Pros: Engrossing, well-acted, editing technique was well done and unique, mystery fans will like! Cons: Somewhat long and confusing, reliance on the formal elements (editing)
I guess cineastes and other people prone to pretentiousness (like me!) would say that: "This movie's appeal relies heavily on its formal elements and skimps on the meat and potatoes of film: characterization and plot".
In other words, "This...
