Pros: Franka Potente , Frank Griebe's cinematography, DVD packed with extras, Melchior Beslon Cons: overlong
Writer/director Tom Tykwer and star Franka Potente followed up their sensational success, the 81-minute "Run, Lola, Run" (Lola rennt, 1998) with a much longer (50 minutes longer) movie that is also about Destiny forged in seeming coincidences, but by the ...

Pros: Top-flight performances; memorable moments; excellent music Cons: Too clever for its own good - get some meat on them bones!
In Tom Tykwer's last film, Run Lola Run, Franka Potente ran up and down half of Berlin, took a bullet in the gut, and witnessed her lover getting mowed down by a distracted ambulance driver. In his new film, starring the same indomitable Teutonic...

Pros: Franka Potente's scintillating good looks. Cons: Slow pacing.
As fans of German cinema can tell you, these films tend to be -- let's use a nice word here -- languorous. The genuine, home-grown (or, as they'd say, hausgemacht) German movies often take two or three cups of coffee, not to mention an...

Pros: It is certainly trying to be more than just average. Cons: Very drawn out.
How can this film not be compared to "Run Lola Run"? Tom Tykwer's last film has reached such a cult status in such a short period of time, and has inspired a few spoofs, most recently on a Simpson's episode. It is even starring the same lead, and...

Pros: The first ninety minutes hold the attention. Cons: Ultimately, the film becomes a pretentious mess
Tom Tykwer's newest film "The Princess and the Warrior" is not very similar to "Run Lola Run", his international breakout hit. This is a good thing. But ultimately, Tykwer falls into the trap of a lot of filmmakers experiencing new fame.
Sissi...

Pros: Good story, interesting characters Cons: None
After seeing Run Lola Run I was more than anxious to see Tom Tykwers other films. Next in line for me was The Princess and the Warrior. My friend had just gotten through seeing it and told me how great it was so this only added to my anticipation....

Pros: Good soundtrack and extras Cons: Intense, gory, and some disturbing content
"Der Krieger und die Kaiserin" (the literal translation is The Empress and the Warrior, but the director preferred "princess" for the English version) is the sixth film from young German director Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run). I'd looked at the DVD several ...

Pros: good plot, good way of portraying story with camera shots, editing, writing, etc. Cons: slowpaced
The other day I was flipping through the paper and came across an ad for a movie. I noticed some information about the film that caught my eye. One was the director, Tom Tykwer. The other was the leading actress, Franka Potente. These two made a...

Pros: Beautiful cinematography, great music and good acting Cons: The ending drags out a little
Forget all the silly summer blockbusters. Go to the movies, pay your $8.50 and enjoy a sober, elegant, engaging movie. If this was an American production it would have been melodramatic; if it was a French production it would have been boring. The Germans...

Pros: Thought-provoking, clever, and rich with depth. Cons: It could have dealt with more human, provocative themes, to be great.
The Princess and the Warrior is about two strangers, Sissi, one of the nurses of a psycho ward, and Bodo, an ex-soldier, whose lives collide via two fateful coincidences. One, involving a car accident, and another, involving a bank robbery, that all...

Pros: Franka Potente, Great Cinematography Cons: Not 'Run Lola Run'
'The Princess and the Warrior' is a movie that is a decent follow-up to 'Run Lola Run'. Franka Potente plays a nurse at a mental hospital ward, who is hit by a truck while on her way to a bank. A mysterious stranger saves her life. And she sets out to...
