With her Fashion Merchandising major and homecoming queen credentials, a southern California sorority president (Reese Witherspoon) applies for Harvard Law School with the intention of winning back an ex-boyfriend in the comedy confection Legally Blonde. Once accepted ("What, like it's hard?"), she lands on campus, pet Chihuahua in tow, only to discover it's not quite what she expected. Shunned, everyone is, like, totally mean to her. Her first class, too, does not go well when, unprepared, she's asked to leave (cf. Timothy Bottoms in The Paper Chase). Our blond Barbie, however, is not one to shrink in the face of adversity. While some of the details are, no doubt, amusing (the bikini-clad videotaped admissions essay springs to mind), much of it is awfully hard to swallow, although you're free to try. Given the possibility that a first-year law student could assume the role of an attorney in a bona fide criminal trial, are we also to believe, for example, open seating would exist at such a venue? Given what we know about high-profile celebrity trials? What are the odds? With Luke Wilson, Matthew Davis, Selma Blair, Holland Taylor and Raquel Welch. Directed by first-timer Robert Luketic.

Ok, here's the thing. Yes, I've just now seen this movie. Why? I basically thought it'd be stupid. For some odd reason my husband, yes you read correctly, rented it while I was gone and told me that it was a really good movie. For the longest time HE had even thought it'd be stupid. I mean, come on, a dingy blonde as the main character? haha

Anyway, I just got done watching it and really liked it. I thought the storyline was great. Basically this girl gets dumped by a 'perfect' guy because she's not the proper girl to bring home to his parents. He's in law school so she gets this idea to get into law school(yes, a dingy blonde who is smart...whuda thunk huh?). She thinks that by proving she's good enough he'll end up taking her back etc. She REALLY loved him! Anyway, he's already engaged to someone else...that someone doesn't like her. She ends up realizing that she didn't need him, goes through law school and ends up with someone even better than that guy. I'll leave the rest for you to find out when you watch it. *smile*

Pros: Plot, characters, goes through several emotions.

A brand new classic. I absolutely love this movie which allows women to embrace their beauty-loving femininity. But not only is this movie complete eye-candy, it also teaches wonderful messages about kindness, confidence, pursuing and achieving your goals. I am proud to show this movie to my daughters.

Reese created a wonderful character. She is Elle Woods.

The casting in this movie is really important and is excellently done. The supporting characters are great.

Elle Woods discovers she can step outside of the molded-role she has always filled to become even more and achieve more than others or maybe even she thought.
