Pros: Sound track and cinematography. Also, Colin Farrell and Ali Larter are easy on the eyes. Cons: Any resemblance to characters living or dead is purely coincidental.
I am a life-long fan of western films. [Gene Autry, Gabby Hayes, Lash LaRue, Roy Rogers, and John Wayne saw to that.] When a number of my coworkers raved after a preview screening of American Outlaws, I figured I would reward myself with a...

Pros: Great young cast of new actors Cons: Historically inaccurate, some Rambo-like action sequences (unrealistic, but fun too watch)
American Outlaws is one of those great action movies that fell between the cracks due to bad timing with it's release, and also because the producers bet on an untested lead actor. It also does not help that the movie, which is about the James-Younger...

Pros: The Wild Wild West re-visited as a date movie with hot, new actor Colin Farrell Cons: Politically-correct, cliche-drenched, sanitized, revisionist screenplay and choppy editing
Thomas Edison's "The Great Train Robbery" (1903) was the first Western ever made and "Jesse James Under the Black Flag" (1923) first introduced the outlaw folk hero. Now, more than 20 similarly-themed pictures later, Jesse James and his notorious...

Pros: Action, Core Characters. Cons: Love Story.
Ignore the current movie poster above - American Outlaws does not star Stallone or Banderas but instead Colin Farrell as Jesse James and his outlaws; Cole Younger/Scott Caan, Frank James/Gabriel Macht, Jim ...

Pros: It will make you laugh. Cons: It's not a comedy.
The poster for American Outlaws features the tag line: Bad is Good Again. Given the sheer unintentional hilarity of the entire movie, I couldn't agree more.
I bet there are more Jesse James movies than there are porn flicks starring women....

Pros: Engaging story with elements of drama, action, suspense, romance, and comedy. Cons: Many historical inaccuracies
Introduction
Presumably about the James/Younger gang, the film adaptation of his life didn't follow close to history. Fortunately for me, I didn't know the real history of Jesse James until after I saw the movie. That meant that I wasn't...

Pros: Smart, simple and sharp, it revives the spirit of the Old West Cons: Historical accuracy may be a bit off
The spirit of the Old West, and the New Hollywood are dually revived in American Outlaws, a film that every film maker should pay attention to if they ever intend to make a summer movie or for that matter, a good movie. The film not only revives the...

Pros: An energetic young cast...some venerable older actors...a legend of Jesse James Cons: A predictable story and a script utterly ridden with cliches
I have never been fond of MTV. Nor, for that matter, music videos in general. They tend to take the lyrics of songs and, instead of allowing you to use your own imagination to capture the meaning of the words, they spell it all out for you, often in...

Pros: Good acting, good story, and some wild west fun. Cons: some weak plot moments, not historically correct
Remember Young Guns? This is the same type of film except its about James brothers and the Younger Brothers. I usually don't like western films, but this would be the exception.
The cast is mostly newcomers. Including Colin Farrell as the...

Pros: Charismatic Colin Farrell. Cons: Unexciting, unsuspenseful--just incredibly dull.
If there exists a book called Westerns for Dummies, chances are you'd find a dog-eared copy of it in the home library of director Les Mayfield. The manufactured-to-the-point-of-lifelessness American Outlaws, Mayfield's attempt to make an...

Pros: Colin Farrell, well choreographed action, style and simplicity Cons: Okay, so its historically inaccurate
Summer of 2001 has been a complete bust. I hate to admit it just as much as everyone else, but it has. The films that have escaped with only minimal critical scars have done so only by monumentally lowered expectations. Every big movie that we were told...

Pros: Two action sequences Cons: What's left?
At its best, American Outlaws is absurd; at it’s worst, it’s tedious and laughable. While watching it, you get the feeling that the people behind it just thought that it’d be fun to make a Western on their downtime. It’s plot is pieced together...

Pros: Everything Cons: Nothing
I have never been a real watcher or lover of westerns really but I have been into Jesse James history or outlaws in general from the old west, from Wyatt Earp to Billy the Kidd. When I saw the previews for this movie I figured I will go see this movie ...

Pros: Cathy Bates.. a few good one linesrs Cons: A lot of stuff
The only reason that I went and paid $7.00 to go see this movie was because two of my friends were extras in the opening battle scene. So we all went together to catch a glimpse of our famous friends…
We were just going to leave after we saw...

Pros: Ali Larter is hot. Good comedy Cons: Bad acting, overdone action sequences.
I was pretty bored Saturday night because I didn’t need to work thanks a lot Steve!!! Well my cousin was in town and wanted to go see a movie. She wanted to see Rush Hour 2 but I had already seen it so she suggested going to see American...
