Pros: Impressive visuals, interesting storyline... Cons: ... weak characterisation and problematic story development...
Metropolis (Japanese title Metoroporisu - well okay its not in Japanese characters, but its the best I can do here ), based on the comic by Osamu Tezuka, is an ambitious anime set in future world where technology and money are ...
Pros: Lovely art and animation, wonderful retro feel Cons: A little sterile
You arrive in Metropolis, an immense and grimy city of indeterminate nationality. Over you looms Ziggurat, a skyscraper whose use and purpose remain clouded in mystery as thick as the smog that belched out by the smokestacks. Whether you are foreign or...
Pros:
Beautiful animation, beautifully interwoven story, Cons:
The English dub misses some key lines.
This is not a remake of the silent film but I cannot confirm if it got inspiration from it or not (it sure seems like it). But as the name implies, the story takes place in a grand city. A city that all other cities aspire to be. The dark secret ...
Pros: Beautiful animation, diverse and touching themes, great action scenes Cons: Action can be slow at times, the beginning is somewhat confusing
I watched Metropolis on DVD via a component video connection.
It's no secret that anime (pronounced 'ann-ih-may'), or animated films, are huge right now. Most come from Japan, as Metropolis does, and because of this carry certain themes we...
Pros: Visual stunning animation, character design, unique style Cons: story elements only scratch surface, stop and start theme

American animation for the most part goes hand and hand with the iron clasp grip of the most known studio which in Disney. Animation in general is a medium thats until recently that has...
Pros: Unbelievably Beautiful cell/CGI Graphics, Awesome Music Album, Apocalyptic Ending Well-Done Cons: Storyline Too Fast-Paced and Weak for Some Viewers
"...you are in my heart Until my heart's not mine So remember This never is Good-bye" From Japanese animation comes the movie, Metropolis (2002), the story adapted from the 1949 manga (Japanese comic book) of the legendary anime artist, Osamu ...
Pros: Visually stunning, with a good deal of depth and complexity. Cons: Voice acting only so-so. Some characters could have been less stereotypical.
Its not always true that a classic film is primarily an original work, nor is it always true that films that are primarily built on a successful predecessor cant be a classic. (We pause here for a few moments while you run that through a ...
Pros: Unbelievably breathtaking animation. Great characters. Cerebral script. Cons: Definitely not 'casual viewing' material.
This is, without a doubt, the most astonishingly gorgeous anime I've ever watched. Which is almost a bad thing, since the first time I watched it I could hardly do anything but stare open-mouthed at the screen. This film demands at least two viewings. ...
Pros: Gorgeous visuals, great soundtrack, immersive storyline and characters. Cons: Slow moving at times, a little light on the extra features.
OH BOY, WHERE DO I START?
Upon hearing about this much-hyped anime film last year, I couldn't help but wanting to know more about "Metropolis". Being a long-time fan of the genre, I was a little leery about the hype since I can pretty...
Pros: Sets a standard for background animation, intriguing choice of music. Cons: Story is a tad confusing, poor character animation, uninteresting writing.
If you think that Metropolis is an animated remake of the classic, you would be half right. There is the futuristic city that was conceived out of neo-gothic visions of the 1940's. There is the revolt of the robots after their female super-robot...
Pros: Smooth animation, good plot, beautiful bacgrounds, loveable characters. Cons: Plot moves very slow.
Before I start this review I must state that I am a hardcore anime fan so some of my statements may be a bit bias, but bear in mind that I can spot a great movie.....
Now that that's cleared up let me start by saying this is a great anime...
Pros: Amazing graphics, Very well crafted storyline, Memorable Cons: Translation is lacking
Metropolis, loosely based on the 1920s movie of the same name, and more closely based on the 1949 Manga by Osamu Tezuka, is one of the deepest anime movies I have yet to see. In terms of plot, this movie is equal to the Studio Ghibli productions...
Pros: Good special effects, nice sound track. Cons: It ended.
First off I listened to it with subtitles and not in English so I don't know how the translation is when they talk, some movies it is very poorly spoken. But yes this movie I found to be really good anime. I found myself to be very sad at the end but with out any spoilers it was a very good movie that you don't even have to be really into anime to watch it. Showed struggles between robots and humans basically a metaphor for our society or at least society in the past.
