  • Perils of Pauline? Not with Jodie Foster in the Panic Room!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    May 1, 2002
Pros: Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Forest Whitaker
Cons: a few plot flaws...just don't over analyze!

Summary: I really wasn’t sure how much I wanted to see Panic Room. I’m not usually too keen on “women in jeopardy” type movies. You know, the “Perils of Pauline” sort of thing where some big brave handsome man comes along and saves the day. My mistake was ... read more

Pros: great acting, well filmed, suspenseful
Cons: storyline flaws & contrived moments

Summary: There are a few movies that I can recall in my life saying "I want to see that" when they first came out.  Then, for whatever reason, they fell off my radar.  Usually it has something to do with mommy-chaos.  Panic Room was ... read more

  • David Fincher's Claustrophobic Thriller Probably Won't Make You Panic

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Aug 6, 2010
Pros: Foster, Yoakam, Whitaker, entertaining, Fincher's direction, cinematography
Cons: Is this meant to be a comedy? Stewart and Leto, fairly predictable, not really edgy

Summary: Let's face it: Jodie Foster hasn't been in anything good since Contact. Before that it was Silence of the Lambs. I like to consider this as her third best effort (behind the stuff she ... read more

    Jul 15, 2008
Pros: Interesting, family hides from intruders in safe room, suspenseful but not that scary
Cons: One anticlimatic part to it

Pros: David Fincher, Jodie Foster, Kristen Stewart, Forest Whitaker, excellent cinematography, intriguing plot.
    Cons: A more fulfilling ending.

Summary: [For starters, I apologize for the cliched title; I just woke up] Firstly, I am an absurd Jodie Foster fan -- I think she is the greatest working actress today, so when I saw the (superb) theatrical trailer for Panic Room back in 2002, ... read more

    Cons: Too many curses.

Summary: In times like this where in the news, more and more home invasions pop up, a panic room seems like the perfect room to have in any room. Sony Pictures released a movie entitled Panic Room which involved a situation of this sort. The ASCAP ... read more

  • Panic Room

Rated a Somewhat Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Oct 6, 2003
Pros: Forest Whitaker, and Jodie Foster running around in tanktop. Some scenes are filmed very nicely.
Cons: The movie is a tad too long for me. It slowly becomes predictable.

Summary: This movie is extremely suspenseful. That is pretty much the bottom line for a review. There is no deep subject matter. You don't feel for the characters. You don't know what will happen next. So this movie pretty much makes a review impossible to write. ... read more

    Pros: The unique opening credits
    Cons: Many, many, many.

Summary: I hate writing reviews where I have to force myself. This normally only happens with pictures that are outstanding examples of contemporary audiences's willingness to praise and patronize schlock. Sad to say, Panic Room is just such a film. ... read more
