  • Sanford and Son-Season One

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jul 2, 2012
Pros: The two leads: Foxx and Wilson; it's an extremely funny show
Cons: DVD set lacks special features; many familiar faces won't arrive until  later

Summary: A mid-season replacement, Sanford and Son premiered on NBC,  January 14, 1972.  Produced by Norman Lear and Bud Yorkin, and based on the BBC comedy, Steptoe and Son--Sanford and Son ... read more

  • Greatest TV Sitcom?

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Jan 24, 2007
Pros: Arguably the greatest sitcom of all time...
Cons: May be too controversial for some audiences...

Summary: The late 60's-early 70's may well be remembered by future generations as the Golden Age of TV sitcoms. Unlike the earlier prototypes of the late 50's-early 60's, they relied less on slapstick and more on dialogue to evoke belly laughs from worldwide ... read more

    Pros: Groundbreaking show, very funny
Cons: Not at all PC. What was funny in the '70's may offend some today.

Summary: ...doot doot doot dee dee doot... ...and so forth. With apologies for the bad impression of the funk-inspired theme song, I am happy to endorse the first season DVD set of Sanford And Son. Just hearing those first few notes of the music takes me back ... read more

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Mar 4, 2004
Pros: funny situations, especially involving Fred Sanford.
Cons: takes a while for the series to get going.

Summary: Ah, I remember those days .... old, cheap sitcoms from the 1970’s and 1980’s. Now, of course, every TV show has to look professional, or else nobody will watch it, but back in the day, it was pretty common for a lot of TV shows to not just be cheaply ... read more

  • Sanford says Buy this set ya "dummy"!

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Aug 9, 2002
Pros: The Complete First Season of Sanford and Son
    Cons: No extras whatsoever.

Summary: The year 2002 will go down as the year that finally saw the popularization and integration of TV shows on DVD. For TV fans, this is it, to have your favorite shows immortalized on the DVD format. Clumbia Tristar released "Sanford and Son - The First ... read more
