Pros: Smartly written, and directed, superbly acted. Cons: Sub-titles!
I have always had an aversion to foreign films. It’s not because I don’t consider myself cosmopolitan enough, nor cultured enough to follow the often intricate plotlines in a foreign tongue, it’s because I tend to miss most of what’s taking place ...
Pros: Appealing erotica featuring gorgeous performers, artsy enigmatic narrative structure, good cinematography and very nice soundtrack Cons: Artsy style and structure doesn't fully mask rather pedestrian story (though few viewers will care)
After watching and reviewing three consecutive heavy films, I felt in the mood for something frivolous and gratifying and found it in the form of this erotic Spanish drama: Sex and Lucía. Theres plenty of sex, mostly featuring ...
Pros: Medem's Script/Direction, Cinematography, Editing, Score, Locations, Effects, & Cast. Cons: A Somewhat Disjointed Third Act.
One of Spain's premier directors, Julio Medem came out as a film critic before going into films in the early 90s. 1998's Los Amantes del Circulo Polar (Lovers on the Arctic Circle) would be Medem's international breakthrough as the film ...
Pros: Medem's visual displays of both bodies and bodies of land/water, sincere moments, blurred fact/fiction imaginative Cons: Confusing plot, too sexual for some, a bit too long to sustain itself
Fresh off an exhilarating experience with "Y Tu Mama Tambien," I figured I had nothing to lose and everything to gain by an opportunistic viewing of "Sex and Lucia," Julio Medem's fifth feature film, a twisting tale of loss, pleasure, regret, and renewal...
Pros: Extremely erotic. Terrific performances. Sometimes dreamlike cinematography. The sexy Paz Vega nude. Cons: 2nd half of film is somewhat disjointed. Ending wasn't completely satisfactory.
Sex & Lucia is a fun, frisky and extremely erotic film that boasts some terrific (and very brave) performances. While the film's plot gets a little problematic as the film goes along, this latest offering from one of Spain's most interesting ...
Pros: Everything. Great actors, dialogue and suspence. Cons: Cinematography lags at times.
Passionate, twisted, moving, and just about perfect. Those are the adjectives I can use to describe this movie. If you cant get laid after watching this with a date then nothing will help. Julio Medem is just and amazing writer/director. The way the sequences go and the way the story is told leave for little gaps of mesmerizing scenery. Paz Vega is just amazing in this movie. Shes so amazingly lustful and nymph like that I fell in love with her. Over all I must see.
Amazing landscapes and cinematography.
