Cons: Siragusa.  Some minor pacing issues.

Pros: He plays a different type of character, out of the norm for Norton
    Cons: Not an action movie

  • The best Spike Lee film I know of, a great movie by any measure

    Feb 26, 2008
Pros: Acting, plot, image control, basically everything except . . .
Cons: The ending is a little difficult to handle, not bad, just difficult to evaluate

Summary: I have never liked the sobriquet “A Spike Lee Joint.” I’ve always believed it to be a pretentious bit of fake non-conformity. I don’t care what he called 25th Hour, it is one of the strongest films I’ve seen in a while. The impact, artistry, ... read more

    Pros: Great acting, interesting story.
Cons: Tony Siragusa should not be acting.

Summary: I’ve seen probably a dozen or so of the 40+ movies Spike Lee had directed and have really enjoyed almost every one. Recently one that I hadn’t seen came on one of the cable channels so I thought I would check it out. It was a very good flick ... read more

  • A Movie about Me Might Be Titled 25th October

Rated a Very Helpful Review by the Epinions community
    Dec 9, 2004
Pros: Deep. Well-acted, particularly supporting cast. The mood and pace (except for digressions) were excellent.
Cons: The diatribe in the bathroom. Norton is unspectacular for perhaps the first time.

Summary: Two movies that seem to be talking directly about me are October Sky and 25th Hour, and since I don't want to publically admit how October Sky touched me, I'm going to review 25th Hour, which, like all Spike Lee joints, is ... read more

    Oct 9, 2004
Pros: Very good story line on a very real personal level. Human drama at its best.
Cons: Foul, foul, street language. Excessive foul language. Did I mention the foul language?

Summary: I was totally impressed with this movie's plot and realism. I am not a fan of Spike Lee movies, so if I had known this was a Spike Lee movie, I would have never rented this movie. I confused this with 28 Days Later. Spike Lee made you relate on a ... read more

    Sep 11, 2004
    Pros: Great cast, good story.
Cons: Some characters, 9/11 storyline didn't quite mesh.

Summary: This motion picture was directed by Spike Lee. If you’ve seen any of his movies, you’ll see the Spike Lee “stamp” multiple times in this release. A Spike Lee Joint is his label rather than the former “A film by Spike Lee”. This ... read more

Pros: Spike Lee, Edward Norton, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, Brian Cox, Barry Pepper, and Isiah Whitlock Jr.
Cons: None that I can think of.

Summary: 25TH HOUR is the first movie set in New York after 9/11. Before making it, Spike Lee knew he had a responsibility to portray it as a different New York than the one featured in his other films. We are truly living in a different era now. There is an ... read more

Pros: All of the actors make great performances. The "f*ck everybody" scene.
    Cons: Cheesy dialogue, at times.

Summary: "The film is unusual for not having a plot or a payoff." -Roger Ebert I'm really starting to quote him a lot, aren't I? You know, today, I went to bw-3's, and one of the questions on the NTN Playmaker was "What film critic won a Pulitzer Prize?" ... read more
