Star Trek: Deep Space Nine Season 1 on DVD

by AliventiAsylum AliventiAsylum is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Movies, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 50, Feb 27 '03
Pros: great graphics, terrific sound, good stories
Cons: really only a half season, the makeup designer is sexist in his remarks
Five years into the run of Star Trek: The Next Generation, the powers that be at Paramount Studios wanted to launch a second series based in the Star Trek universe of the future. Not wanting to have two series based on ships traveling ...

The first season of the best Trek show out there

by hist , Aug 01 '04
Pros: Excellent DVD quality and some great episodes
Cons: some not so great episodes
The first season of Star Trek: Deep Space Nine was a very interesting beginning. We discovered in the first episode that we would be staying in one place, exploring a little but dealing much more with the Bajoran people and how they are ...

Too short a season

by seacow Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 1000, Oct 17 '04
Pros:
Cons:
It was a pretty big thing when Star Trek: The Next Generation came out. After 25 years, a new show was airing that continued Captain James T. Kirk’s abruptly ended five-year mission. Then, five years into Captain Jean-Luc Picard’s ongoing mission, the ...

season 1 starts strong but the good stuff is yet to come

by tommy_lop Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 200, May 26 '09
Pros: great charecters and some good story arcs
Cons: the best stuff is yet to come
I got Star Trek Deep space nine season 1 several years ago when they finally started putting the star trek sets down to a decent price of 50 bucks (they were over 100 dollars previously). Now Star Trek Deep Space Nine is a lot of trekkie favorite series, ...

Star Trek Deep Space Nine Season One -- THE best Star Trek series ever!

by gatorgirlie Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Apr 11 '03
Pros: Sometimes, this question just seems silly. Please read my review
Cons: Same as above..
Let me give you a little background about my geekiness. I am a Star Wars freak -- you know the kind who dress up like Jedis on Halloween and who wait in line for days to get tickets to the new Star Wars movie? Yeah, that's me. Luckily for me I married...

Bajor Rebuilding

by wlswarts Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Feb 28 '03
Pros: Excellent character development, Nice Acting, Interesting Stories, Mood! Special Effects
Cons: Lack of DVD Commentary, Difficult to Get Into For Non-Fans
When "Star Trek The Next Generation" was winding down, the thought that the series had done quite a lot for Paramount and for merchandising was a deep concern to the studio and they asked for another installment in the series, effectively making "Star ...

A bold new beginning

by sludgetrough , Mar 18 '03
Pros: Much-improved video quality and more extras than the ST:TNG DVD set.
Cons: Only 20 episodes, and most of them were pretty average.
2002 was the year of The Next Generation, and 2003 will be the year of DS9. I've already got my calendar marked with the release dates of all the DVD sets, and I can't wait to experience DS9 again for the first time.

I'm sure you have a lot...

Star Trek at its darkest (and best)!

by geowebst , Aug 22 '09
Pros: A more realistic Trek where the good and bad are blurred.
Cons: Much tamer than later seasons but still a must-see!
I have just recently completed watching the entire first season of DS9 once again and was reminded of why I like this series more than any other Trek series. It is dark and gritty and has none of the white-washed quality of the all the other Treks ...
