Pros: Spacey and Linney Cons: Bitsey, Photography, Editing, Score, Direction, Winslet
I like Kevin Spacey. I like the sardonic persona he often plays, and the edge in his delivery of lines. Hes an actor that I consistently enjoy watching, even when the material isnt worthy of his talent. This has never been more evident than i ...

Pros: Excellent murder mystery! A lot of twists and stuff to ponder... Cons: Characters are somewhat dull, some things are still a little blurry.
Although this opinion reveals everything about the movie's plot, I separated the spoilers into footnotes at the bottom. Just so ya know :)
After seeing all the smack being laid upon The Life of David Gale, I almost wonder if I...

Pros: Superior cinematography; surprisingly good performances; interesting concept. Cons: Shallow, predictable, insultingly lame plot and dialogue; misguided direction.
I'm tempted to say a lot of bad things about The Life of David Gale. That would be the popular thing to do. Nobody liked this film--except perhaps for three critics who wrote their reviews on the way to the airport. One was French, the other German....

Pros: Kevin Spacey's acting; good overall story; a shocking ending. Cons: Berlin's story; Gale's wife's story; Some clichés.
After seeing the trailer for The Life of David Gale in theaters, I knew I had to see this movie. I'm a big fan of Dead Man Walking, and if you enjoy that movie, you will doubtless enjoy this one as well.
Plot Summary (or, "Why are these...

Pros: Spacey and Linney Cons: ...
Although the plot is fairly obvious from the start, it is still a good trip putting the pieces together in The Life Of David Gale. David Gale is a professor at the University of Austin. His part time passion is the movement against the ...

Pros: Spacey does his best. Cons: Too much bangin' on the ol' political drum. Kate Winslet's shocking American accent.
At face value, Alan Parker’s The Life of David Gale possesses all of the ingredients required for a ...

Pros: Good symbolism in relation to what I have learned in my philosophy classes Cons: It's highly underrated by many
I went to see this movie Saturday night with my parents. I know, I know. I'm in college and went to go to the movies...with mom and dad! Many people hate this movie, and it is a shame, but then again, I'm nobody to talk. I hated the movie 'A Time To...

Pros: acting, soundtrack and score Cons: plot, pace, politically flawed
Alan Parker's "The Life of David Gale" is a disturbing film that lacks all morals while pretending to make a case against capital punishment. The story is a mess, and the directing is as liberal as the death penalty abolitionists themselves.

Pros: The movie has a good cast and it is thought provoking. Cons: Uninspired Soundtrack A Few Miscast Characters
Not quite a masterpiece, and not quite trailer-park trash, The Life of David Gale is a good movie. I've seen the movie three times now,and although I like it,it doesn't quite live up to expectations. The tagline for this movie was, according to ...

Pros: Kevin Spacey is the brainiest, connivingest, most fleet-minded of actors. Cons: Contains about ten childhoods worth of soppy bologna.
Kevin Spacey is a sniggering, twig-thin, death penalty-opposing Old Wigsby who tosses off withering repartee with the velocity of a verbal gun-fanner, hits the sauce like a down-on-his-luck West Virginia coal miner and wipes off the vehemant brickbats of...

Pros: A strong cast and talented director... Cons: ...waste their abilities on this astonishingly awful film.
It certainly sounded like a recipe for something worthwhile: two-time Academy Award winner Kevin Spacey, three-time Academy Award nominee Kate Winslet, and Academy Award nominee Laura Linney in a film about a hot button issue, the death penalty, by...

Pros: The first 1.5 hours. Cons: The rest loses steam, and then commits suicide.
Movies like this are why I stated in my previous review that I am unsure of Alan Parker. I really think Mississippi Burning blows too (please dont shout racist! I just didnt like the movie). The Life of David Gale starts out ...

Pros: Kevin Spacey, Kate Winslet Cons: Contrived and hollow plot, gratuitous sex, unsympathetic characters
The trailers for this movie paint a picture of a powerful indictment of the corrupt legal and political apparatus behind the death penalty. Prospective moviegoers are enticed with visions of a Grishamesque thriller of corruption, planted evidence, false...
