Pros: Interesting Cons: Confusing
I wonder what people can tell about us by the movies that our society produces. I enjoy foreign films mostly because they offer a very different perspective than the standard Hollywood take on Love, Death, and Life. As a disclaimer, I will state that ...

Pros: gets under the skin before you notice Cons: on the surface nothing is really connected to.
It's only four days away now- St. Hallows eve. 'Tis the season to be creepy and watch scary movies, but quality horror movies for the Halloween slumber party are not really Hollywood's best forte anymore since the 70's ended. Indeed at the moment it ...

Pros: Innovative opening and reasonably good acting and effects. Cons: Extremely confusing, frustrating, and disappointing. And gory.
THE SUICIDE CLUB (Japanese 2001) - that's the title on the US DVD but also the title of a rather famous (and completely unrelated) short story by Robert Louis Stevenson -- also known as THE SUICIDE CIRCLE, and the JISATSU CIRCLE (or ... CLUB) got some ...

Pros: Makes you think. Alot. Good Date Movie. Cons: There's no real ending, all that thinking leads to nowhere.
Suicide Club, winner of a couple of awards from the Fantasia Film festival, aka the sci-fi convention of pacific moviemakers, was brought to america one day and given subtitles and left for innocent Americans to stare at and wonder. What the heck was ...

Pros: Thought provoking, brutal, commentary on Japanese society as well as our society and mass consumption Cons: Brutal, below average effects, confusing plot line, disturbing, subtitles for some
I was on Youtube searching for some new films to watch when I clicked on the first part of a movie called Suicide Club (Jisatsu Sakura). The first ten minutes of this movie is probably one of the most disturbing opening scenes I’ve seen ...

Pros: Suspense, realism Cons: Too much suspense, too much realism. Seems to drag a bit.
I don't know what it is about The Suicide Club, but the movie felt really gross to me. It gave me the willies in a very serious way. One would definitly say that it shows how effective and powerful this film is. And how creepy. Like a good 75% of ...

Pros: None Cons: Long, convoluted, pointless, uninteresting 'thriller'
This looked as if it would be an interesting foreign film, and quite and interesting psychology thriller, wrong. Fifty four school girls hold hands and jump in front of a train, what is going on? Well I'll tell you, Sion Sono wants to be edgy, cutting ...

Pros: The gifts (themes) are clichés, but the wrapping is disturbing if not original. Cons: The blood, it might prevent people who need to see the film from seeing it.
Some of the more disturbing aspects of the suicides aren’t actually the blood or gore, but other aspects entirely Believe it or not, there does come a point where you see it, and you don’t have an emotional reaction towards it—perhaps a one of the themes ...

Pros: Apart from the bloody scenes, it is very watchable. The message it carries is important. Cons: Too many unrealistic and unnecessary blood scenes.
The Suicide Club (aka Suicide Circle) is one of the better movies I've watched. Much better than those simple minded Hollywood types over jammed with actions. What makes it standing out? It carries a message, and it communicates the message artfully. ...

Pros: The opening is delightfully disturbing, and will have you hooked, and wanting more. Cons: Halfway through the movie, the plot falls apart. Extremely bloody, which may bother some viewers.
54 Japanese schoolgirls, smiling and conversing as if nothing unusual is going on, suddenly join hands and toss themselves into the path of an oncoming subway train. Around Japan, a wave of suicides is occuring like never before, a website seems to be ...

Interesting in a Strange, Almost Sick Manner
by coocoocoo ,Mar 10 '04
Pros: -Good script and concept
-Leaves you with something to think about Cons: -Subtitled; may be perturbing
-Very unusual film
This movie displays the great originality found in Japanese filmmaking. A story about a pattern of suicides that spreads through Japan may be a bit disturbing, but also attention grabbing. It's a mystery waiting to be solved by a detective and his men, but what they find out is more than they would have ever thought. Good overall, but may seem weird and complicated to the general audience.
