Just a well made, interesting movie with a film noir touch. I don't know too much about the era, but I do know that there was no separation of church and state. The movie portrayed that feeling and gave new insight into the politics that governed the people and controlled their lives. It gave a sense of helplessness in a dark yet fascinating way. The filming techniques and camera angles added to the mysterious mood that it set. I would definitely recommend seeing it.
