Pros: Spectacular battle scene, Brad Pitt’s portrayal of Achilles. Cons: Omission of Greek gods directly effecting events detracts from the story.
Like most children I heard bits and pieces of the story of Troy; of Helen whose beauty launched a thousand ships; of Achilles and his unprotected heal; of Hector Prince and hero of Troy
But also like most I am not fully conversant in the real ...

Pros: Actors appropriately cast for the most part, ...um... Cons: Weak dialogue, bad directing, obvious CGI, not for classicists. Could have been a GREAT movie.
Although the movie claims to have been "inspired" by Homer's Iliad, the comparisons to the written work are inevitible. Perhaps (un)fortunately for me, I have read Homer's works, along with Virgil's Aeneid and Aeschylus's Orestia in ...

Pros: Good, classic war movie; nice eye candy for both genders Cons: Strays from the original story
Troy (the movie) in 300 words or less( should be read in a Robin Williams' voice): Achilles (Brad Pitt) is the greatest warrior in all the land. Greek King (Brian Cox) fights Greek Prince, summons Achilles. Nude ...

Pros: Eric Bana; Peter O' Toole; impressive visuals; sacking of Troy stunning Cons: Legolas; not much estrogen leeway; sacking of Troy not stunning enough
Sing goddess, the wrath of forlorn Hollywood, the ruinous wrath of an overpriced, blockbuster endeavor and escalating hubris that brought on investors woes innumerable on their endless quest to trump the financial bottom line. From teutonic upstart ...

Pros: CGI, choreography, cinematography Cons: sallow characters, sub-par performances, resembles your typical okay action movie
Wolfgang Petersen’s “Troy” tries to be a meritorious adaptation of Homer’s epic poem The Iliad, but turns out to be more of the usual okay summer-action-drama, leaving those expecting a true Homerian adventure featuring heroes and legends wanting. ...

Pros: Eric Bana, sets,Rose Byrne is sexy Cons: Orlando Bloom is dreadful, generally not very good
I have to be honest and admit that I had absolutely no motivation, and therefore no expectations, about watching Troy. While I love war movies, and I am partial to the odd epic, providing it's good, Troy just didn't appeal to me much. ...

Pros: I loved it Cons: And you haven’t seen it
I didnt go see Van Helsing two weeks ago. Lets say I couldnt find the time. I knew, however, that there was absolutely no way I would skip this one. The trailers looked promising to deliver on an epic scale, Brad Pitt looked ...

Pros: The cast, production and costume design Cons: Brad Pitt, writing, length
Brad Pitt's a good actor. But he's only a good actor when he's in easier territory that he can navigate. Ocean's Eleven, Twelve Monkeys, and Fight Club is where he shows his strengths as an actor. In all three films, Pitt plays a bad boy but one that you ...

Pros: Oh dear... Cons: Oh my...
Troy Directed by Wolfgang Petersen To me, this was the most anticipated movie of the year, being an ardent lover of ancient history, mythology, legends, and of course, The Iliad. Troy has a wonderful nostalgic and old fashioned ...

Pros: Pitt proves himself well as an actor, Peterson's confident direction, Eric Bana and Orlando Bloom. Cons: Pitt doesn't look right for the part, awkward dialogue and stray long scenes
Brad Pitt's body type is all wrong for the role of Achilles in Wolfgang Petersen's craven and slobbering epic "Troy". It doesn't help either, the tongue-knotting script, but the movie's rather pretty okay with it's charged up moments, including a fine ...

Pros: Onslaught of action, sheer scope Cons: Extremely stupid. Doesn't require the attention span of a typical epic
Troy, when it was released, proved to be Orlando Bloom’s latest step in what is apparently becoming an inexplicable – not to mention completely doomed – quest to become the next Charlton Heston. Take a quick glance at his movie ...

Pros: Acting, cinematography, Eric Bana Cons: Not true to the story
This is a well done, visually pleasing film with good acting, alas--it is not true to the story of the Trojan War. They left out a lot, and misportrayed several of the characters. Just about everyone knows the basic story of Troy. Paris and Helen ...

Pros: Beauitful People, Amazing Special Effects, Battle Scenes Cons: No Depth, Battle Scenes Are Short, Unsatisfying Plot
As an avid fan of the legendary-for-his-looks Brad Pitt, I must say that watching a movie in which he stars in is always a treat. Whether you like the man or not, it's difficult not to admire him on camera, and the fact that the camera admires him, too. ...

Pros: Some good camerawork and CGI effects, good albeit inauthentic costumes; mildly entertaining Cons: Poor writing, cold direction, pointless; cornerstones of the Western canon deserve far better.
This review reveals major details about the movie's plot. Then again, we all know these stories, anyway, or at the very least should. Being a fan of the classics, if such a thing is possible, especially for somebody who knows almost no Latin ...
