Pros: Skarsgard gives a good performance. Cons: The movie drags on forever with no real payoff.
William Friedkin's The Exorcist is often cited as the scariest horror film ever made. Personally, I've never found the film to be all that scary (which could have something to do with the fact that I'm neither Catholic nor particularly religious), ...

Pros: Stellan Skarsgard. Cons: Noxious, putrid, worthless, irredeemable, laughable.
There are, I am sure, less appealing things in the world than another Exorcist sequel, but it's hard to think of any. It is certainly impossible to conceive of any need for two Exorcist sequels telling the same story within a year of each ...

Pros: Stellan Starsgard. Cons: The rest of the movie.
Before I start my review, I would like to share with you a famous story that you will often read about in screenwriting books. Its the kind of funny but-not-really story where an ugly truth lingers in the air once everyones done laughing. It ...

Pros: There are no pros in this movie. They are all amatuers. Cons: I feel I got conned by this movie.
First of all, I HAVE to vent. I am getting SO sick and tired of people in Hollywood that take a sequel or as in the case of The Exorcist: The Beginning, a prequel, take and rip apart the very fabric of a movie. This has happened to many great movies. It ...

Pros: Skarsgard, some very clever scares, the direction, and some rather far out violence. Cons: It's got a few inconsistencies, plus the music and effects aren't exactly top notch.
"Exorcist: The Beginning" may be the first movie to truly express that studio heads do not know a single thing about film making. Thats a little harsh, let me rephrase that. They just dont have much taste in what makes a better film. This is ...

Pros: Stellan Skarsgard is a very competent actor. Cons: The atrocities this film glorifies, and the horror cliches it embraces.
Father Lancaster Merrin, portrayed by Max Von Sydow in the 1973 original Exorcist, is here, in this dire prequel played by Stellan Skarsgard. He is younger, and more confused, even conflicted by his vows of being a priest. He wishes to be acknowledged ...

Pros: Awesome movie. Acting is superb. Cons: nothing
Plot: It's basically set before the original Exorcist, I believe. The plot kicks butt. It was a very well made story. It's set in 1949, somewhere in Africa, I can't remember the exact country. The British have recently uncovered a church, and ...

Pros: Stellan Skarsgård, Izabella Scorupco, directing, dialouge, plot, music, photography Cons: None at all!
In the year of 1973, William Friedkin created one of the most scariest movie of all time, THE EXORCIST. A frightening film about a young girl being possessed by the devil. Critics and audiences couldn't stop talking about how scary and great this film ...

Pros: Some interesting ideas in the story, not much else Cons: poor effects, lame characters, boring pace, does the original no justice, forced scares
At least I can say this about The Exorcist: The Beginning - it wasn't a victim of it's own hype. The general consensus on this movie seemed to be that most people preferred they not make another Exorcist sequel, as the rest were so bad. That said, ...

Pros: Too many to mention, acting, writing, directing, editing Cons: I want to see it again!
“EXORCIST: THE BEGINNING” REVIEW NOTE: There are some mild spoilers in this review, but in no way is the ending revealed. I really, really, liked this movie. “Exorcist: The Beginning” (directed by Renny Harlin) effectively captures the essence of ...

Pros: Scary, Dark, Hey! It's the Exorcist!. Very disturbing at parts Cons: The Acting. The Ending. Very disturbing at parts
In 1973 when the Original Exorcist came out, it was dubbed 'the scariest movie of all time'. However the priest who is called to do the exorcism, Father Merrin (Stellan Skarsgård) has seen this type of thing before. (hence the reason the devil in the ...

Pros: This movie is only good if you are a fan or haven't seen the original. Cons: Bad acting, not enough action, some similar repeated scenes from the original, sometimes confusing.
The original movie, sure, it is decent. I liked it ok, and it had many memorable scenes. So when a group of friends asked me to go see "Exorcist: the Beginning", I thought, why not? Wow...I wasted $5.50! I sat down in the cold movie theater, good ...
