Pros: Catchy educational songs that kids and parents will both enjoy Cons: Some may not like the actual video segments
Although I was familiar with They Might Be Giants (TMBG) from my college days, my children first met them through the television show, Higglytown Heroes, on which this duo performs the theme song. Some of the short videos played between shows seemed to ...
Pros: They Might Be Giants make better music than Barney Cons: Educationally weak for kids, not sophisticated enough for adults
Here Come the ABCs, produced by Disney Sound with substantial contribution by the band They Might Be Giants (remember Istanbul Not Constantinople?) is one of the biggest disappointments in a children's DVD I've experienced in a long time. That's ...
Pros: Great for those ABC learning children. Cons: Rather boring for adults...but hey it's not meant for us!
Twenty some years and 16+ albums later, here come They Might Be Giants with their 2nd children's album. The first childrens album was called No! and was released in 2002. No! included 17 whacky songs about anything and everything. Most ...
Pros: Catchy, helping the kids to learn, enjoyable for adults too. Cons: I can't think of any!
I have nothing but good to say about this CD/DVD. My son who is just now 2 1/2 LOVES it. He sings the words to all of the songs, especially the "Go for G!" song - that's his favorite. We've got 3 birthday parties coming up and all of the kids (ages ...
More clever than those goofy Wiggles will ever be! by n5771 ,Sep 19 '05
Pros: Best "children's music" to come out in last 6 years. Cons: Hard to sometimes get melodies out of your head for the rest of the day!
We've followed TMBGs since college. The quirky duo has produced many entertaining and different albums. Our daughters love "Istanbul" "Don't let's start" and other TMBG tunes. The ABC disc is great! Not only is it great for the kids, it is also great for adults. Finally "kiddie music" that is not insipid!
The Wiggles and Barney are not allowed in our house!!!
The tunes in this CD/DVD will be in your brain for days after listening to them. For now, GO, Go Go Go for G!!!! Listening to our 6 year old reciting the "alphabet of nations" is worth the price of the disc!
We've given the DVD to three families as gifts. Highly recommended.
Thank-you John and John! I would love to own "Q" "U" heads for this upcoming Halloween!!!
Clever, my kids are warming up to it. by tramo ,Jan 02 '06
Pros: Interesting and clever songs about the alphabet. Cons: Takes some getting used to for my 3 &4 year old.
I watched this one with my kids & found it fun, but although my 4 year old sat and watched the entire movie, he had a look of confusion on his face for most of it. I think the problem is the level of humor is above the level of the typical person who is learning the ABCs. My 3 year old didn't watch it at all.
*After I wrote this review, they started asking for it again. My 3 year old is watching it too. I guess after the initial phase of getting used to it, they do like it. I don't think it will be one of their favorites, but they will watch it again & I enjoy watching it too.
POP DVD - In addition to their ability to craft intelligent, quirky pop and rock songs, They Might Be Giants has carved out a career as respected chil...More at Barnes and Noble
