Pros: Jane Fonda reclaims her comic timing. Cons: Elaine Stitch arrives too late in the movie.
Don't you wonder what's up with major movie critics? What is it they don't see in a movie that the buying public sees? Take for example, Monster-in-Law, starring Jane Fonda as Viola Fields and Jennifer Lopez as Charlotte. It earned an 18% on the ...

Pros: Wanda Sykes, Jane Fonda has some funny moments Cons: Michael Vartan's character, very very predictable
Everybody was enthusiastic about Jane Fonda's highly anticipated comeback to the big screen. Not me. I admit it, it's probably because I wasn't born when Fonda had last made a movie. I also am not the big J-Lo fan although I do think that this widely ...

Pros: Wanda Sykes Cons: J Lo, and horrible writing
Monster in Law is supposed to be a romantic comedy..although it wasn't romantic and it wasn't funny. Charlotte 'Charlie' (Jennifer Lopez) a "dog walker" has two chance meetings with Dr Kevin Fields (Michael Vartan). This unlikely pair is immediately ...

Pros: Jane Fonda. Cons: Nicety/civility seem slowed down when contrasted with moments humor and hilarity and gr8 fun.
I have the DVD and I've watched it more than I expected. It's a good looking movie and you find yourself having fun. It's a simple enough story and part of the enjoyment is from the fact that you have more fun than your senses tell you should be ...

Pros: The performances by Jennifer Lopez, Jane Fonda and Wanda Sykes; the hilarious script Cons: Could've been wrapped up with a bit more care
One never quite knows what to expect when they sit down to watch a romantic comedy led by Jennifer Lopez, who in recent years has been notorious for head-lining such stinkers (yet money-makers) as The Wedding Planner and Maid in Manhattan. Her last ...

Pros: Funny, refreshing, well written, well acted, a great girlfriends movie day Cons: Laughingly predictable.
Funny movie! Great chick flick "GIRLFRIEND DAY" movie!' I thought the cast was fabulous, I am in my mid 50's and Remember the NOT SO FONDA JANE days during the Viet Nam era.... but that aside she was great in this role., she looks her age fabulously! ...

Pros: Jane Fonda is hilarious! Cons: Jennifer Lopez, Michael Vartan
This film has some absolutely hilarious scenes, but it also falls into bad Hollywood traps. Basically, Jennifer Lopez (obnoxiously nicknamed "Charlie") falls in love with Michael Vartan, a soul-less hottie who gets literally one good line in the entire ...

Pros: Everything - A++ movie Cons: They have not come out with a second one yet
I wanted to see this movie because I like Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez. Little did I know that the star would be Wanda Sykes - I did not even know she starred in the movie but she did not disappoint me. I give a thumbs up for all actors but Wanda ...

Pros: Jane Fonda, Wanda Sykes Cons: Jennifer Lopez, the leading man
About the only moment that was remotely funny in the sad sad movie was when Jane Fonda attacked the Britney Spears clone on national television. Jane Fonda plays a Barbara Walters style news personality who has been replaced by a much younger woman. ...

Pros: Acting, Plot, Comedy Cons: Slow start, quick chopped scene at end
Let me start out by saying, I had very low hopes for this movie. I LOVE JLO in all of her movies, she has yet to let me down. But for some reason when I saw the trailer on TV for this movie, I didn’t get good vibes. I had a bad feeling it would be short, ...

Pros: Jane Fonda Cons: Story is unrealistic and scenes are stupid.
So, what's the worst thing you can imagine happening when you meet your significant others' parents? I think we all have those worst case scenarios spinning in our head - but all of those will seem so simple and mediocre after watching the movie ...

Pros: I stopped the DVD before I wasted more than 40 minutes on it. Cons: The plot, the acting, the cliches, the stereotypes, the over-the-top circumstances.
I had to stop watching this movie half-way through. It was that bad. First Jennifer Lopez's part is unrealistic- they show her, a totally hot single, doing many little jobs such as dog-walking and waitressing, but always emphasizing what a total sweetie ...

Monster-in-Law: What a Monster of a Disappointment
by shopprnicole ,Jun 06 '06
Pros: no Cons: The Unrealistic way everything was handled by each character.
I was excited to see this movie. The trailer looked good. But I was very disappointed. I thought the things the mother was doing were very unrealistic. I had expected the mother to just be rude (in a funny way) to the daughter but the fact that she was pretending to be mentally unstable ruined it for me. She was supposed to be so tough and intimidating to Jennifer Lopez, but what is intimidating about someone who has to be taken care of because they are too weak to be alone? Nothing if you ask me. The ending when they had a heart-to-heart was so cheesy that I felt sorry for myself for wasting time watching it. I also thought it was incredibly strange for Lopez to not tell her soon-to-be husband what his mother was doing. People getting married are supposed to be close, and they should've discussed the problems instead of keeping it a secret. The whole movie was so dumb.

Only man the theater
by soundofpeace ,May 27 '05
Pros: Jane Fonda's performance, Wanda Sykes biting attitude Cons: The standard J-lo performance
Okay, off I went to this "chick flick"...entered the theater and behold! I was the only man. What a surprise! You mean I was the only man who actually went to this movie after my wife asked? hmmmmmm.
Well regardless, I will lose "man points" after this review. It was a really good movie. Jane Fonda played a huge role in carrying the energy and pace of the entire story and Jennifer Lopez or J-lo or Jenny from the block ( depending on the day) well, did " fine".
Wanda Sykes was perfect in the role of assistant to Jane Fonda with biting sarcasm as only she can deliver. She provided a truly masterful approach by using simple dialog to convey her comedic talents.
I will say if you want to gain "points" go see this movie with your partner ( and if you keep quiet above this review, you will know that the movie is actually funny and it wont be such a snorefest).
