Pros: Mr. Bucket, the pre-factory scenes didn't suck, mostly follows the book until the end Cons: the look, Oompa Loompas and songs, shallow, creepy, captures the details but not the essence
Summary: Making movies based on books is fraught with difficulty. Along with a built-in audience you get fans who scream if you alter a word. Filmmakers who give in to the temptation to follow the source material religiously often wind up with a deadly dull movie ... read more

Pros: lush, quirky, hilarious, with something to say from our generation Cons: some repetitive plot points
Summary: Charlie and the Chocolate Factory has the dirty job of remaking a classic. Its makers would prefer to call it another adaptation of the classic children's book, but that's a hard sell. Everybody has heard of the film that was helmed by Gene Wilder - ... read more

Pros: Depp and a charming plot. Cons: May be to creepy in parts for the youngest viewers.
Summary: It seems of late that every month Hollywood either releases or plans to release a remake of a classic film. This summer has spawned no less than 5 remakes of classic films or televisions shows and with box office receipts in decline, it would seem that ... read more

Pros: As colorful as The Wizard of Oz... Cons: ...and please, all comparisons end there
Summary: Willie Wonka has issues. I wouldn’t make such ado of it if Charlie and the Chocolate Factory didn’t. When last I checked, Roald Dahl’s book was about an eccentric chocolate maker and his extremely offbeat candy factory. And most people who have ... read more

Pros: Except for some add-ons, Tim Burton actually sticks with the book. Cons: Gene Wilder will always be the real Willy Wonka, and Johnny Depp isn't Gene Wilder.
Summary: And, the first thing out of my mouth from watching Charlie and The Chocolate Factory is... "Was that Michael Jackson and his Neverland Ranch?" Why? Because it was so damn creepy. I am one of those people that have read the book and have seen ... read more

Pros: perfectly acted, good story, great visuals, the Oompa Loompas alone make this movie worth seeing! Cons: none
Summary: This movie, from beginning to end, is a stunning cinematic achievement. Johnny Depp is superb as Willy Wonka. Deep Roy performed the equivalent of a marathon as the "Oompa Loompa" actor. This incarnation of the infamous chocolate factory is phenomenal.

Pros: Some neat visuals apparently not all done with computer graphics. Cons: Depp was really disappointing. Pales in comparison to the original film.
Summary: I had already read the book, and seen the original movie so in spite of the bad reviews I saw this film to satisfy my morbid curiosity. The first chunk of the film is remarkably faithful to the Dahl text. However when the children enter the factory,

Pros: Clean content with no implied filth. Cons: Bland content, bland special effects and generally bland.
Summary: To summarize in less then five words, I would simple say blah. I know everybody is about special effects these days, but that is not why I give this movie such a low rating. As I watched my five kids watch the movie, I noticed there attention was

Pros: Interesting follow-up of the original, good quality. Cons: A little far fetched at times, but done purposely.
Summary: As in the first, Willy Woonka and the Chocolate Factory, five lucky golden-ticket holders will be treated to a once in a life time, fantastical tour of the infamous chocolate factory, and lucky Charlie is one of the five. With the other four,(rather

Pros: More details about the history of the Willie Wonka Chocolate factory and Willie Wonka, himself. Cons: No soap flavored candy for the 4 kids in the movie that needed some discipline!
Summary: I'm a huge Johnny Depp fan so when this movie was coming out I was sure it was going to be great. Johnny Depp's look was so bizarre, and such a treat. We took our 8 year old and I don't think she enjoyed it as much as we did. We grew up on seeing Willie

Pros: Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp Cons: The Umpalumpa, The lack of Umpalumpa song
Summary: This is the most entertaining film I have seen in a long time. I loved the original film, so was worried that it would be a huge let down, but what can I say, it was brilliant. Johnny Depp was fantastic as the completely insane Willy Wonka and his

Pros: Johnny Depp, Johnny Depp and Johnny Depp. Tim Burton's magic. Fun! Cons: None
Summary: Tim Burton's movies are magical and creepy. I don't think I have ever seen a movie that Tim Burton has made that has disappointed me. Burton's choice to cast Johnny Depp as Willy Wonka was absolutely perfect. I love Johnny Depp. Besides being hot he

Pros: Johnny Depp, chocolate Cons: Oompa Loompas and songs
Summary: Now with this movie, I swear to God they were pumping the smell of Chocolate into the theatre. There were many scenes with the, mmm, creamy chocolate and I swear I smelled it in the air. As soon as I got out of that movie I had to get some frikkin'

Pros: Some neat effects, mainly with the squirrels. Cons: Depp not a good Wonka. Movie is to dark. Oompa Looma and songs were awful.
Summary: I took my 4 year old to see this. He likes the original better. Much like the original, the beginning takes to long to get to the point. Johnny Depp was the WRONG choice for this part. He seems like he is trying to be Jim Carrey playing Michael

Pros: Gives a moral, the children's characters were greatly played. Cons: Its not the original!
Summary: I just loved the original Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. I was overly excited to see the remake - which turned out in my opinion over rated. Johnny Depp plays a creepy Willie Wonka. I understand that its a remake and they didn't want to do everything

Pros: Excellent Art and Direction, Great casting and fantastic script. Cons: I felt it was missing something as far as Willy was concerned.
Summary: When I first found out they were remaking Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory, I fumed. My friends and I insisted we would boycott, and when the movie came out we'd go rent Gene Wilders and Watch it all night long. Then I decided to go see the movie.
