Pros: It's golf! It's Disney! Cons: Abraham Lincoln-like stalking scenes, miscellaneous plot issues
It was a little disconcerting to sit in the arts wing of the movie theatre this afternoon watching The Greatest Game Ever Played for a few reasons. First, I was with an 11 year-old who wondered aloud, "Whoa, why are we going to this ...

Pros: Both exciting and moving. Great cast and special effects. Cons: Thin romance, but perhaps just right.
As I wrote to the fine Top Reviewer and Advisor, quasar, there is no need for anyone else to do a full review of THE GREATEST GAME EVER PLAYED when we have his. Director Bill Paxton and Screenwriter Mark Frost have fashioned a highly entertaining, ...

Pros: not good guy vs bad guy, LaBeouf, Flitter, tries to explore social issues Cons: doesn't go deeply enough into the non-golf stuff, some of the elements feel stereotypical, Koteas
In 1913 golf was a gentleman's game. Only the wealthy and well born played and no one believed anyone else capable of playing. The idea that Francis Ouimet (Shia LaBeouf), a half French and half Irish kid from the wrong side of the tracks could compete ...

Pros: Shia Labeouf & Co., a wonderful multi-pronged story, cool use of CGI Cons: predictable, but what true story isn't
I'll preface this review by saying, I am a sports movie lover. That being said, The Greatest Game Ever Played was a good solid Disney film. Though it was a little predictable, you go into it knowing that- since this was based on a true story. If you are ...

Pros: Focused more on human aspect, than the sport Cons: Love Story
Daring to dream has been a theme in many films intended to inspire the nation. Many out there are based on true stories. Though I'm not 100% a fan of the game, The Greatest Game Ever Played presented a young boy's dream of playing Golf in a way that was ...

Pros: Great (true) story, beautiful photography and wonderful casting Cons: Unsympathetic father figure is familiar, no big names in the cast
I knew as little as it is possible to know about golf before watching this film because I find golf tedious and, let's face it, boring. But this movie made the lives of the characters and the game they were enmeshed in fascinating. This true story ...

Pros: Caddy is funny, ending heartwarming. Cons: There are these freaky guys with tall hats. CREEPY!!! Also, long and predictable.
The Greatest Game Ever Played, starring Shia Labeouf, is a good movie. Most movies are. But is it the greatest movie ever made? This movie is about a boy named Francis (living in old Boston way back when) who has a passion and natural talent for golf. ...

Pros: Great story Cons: Not very emotional
This was a great movie. Shia did a great job and earned a lot of respect from me. The film was just spectacular. I am a sports fanatic though. I did think that they lacked a bit on the sappy stuff. They tried to get it all emotional but it just didnt really work the way others do. It was based on a true story so maybe the way it actually happened it wasnt really all that sad. I definatley recommend it to anyone who likes sports, and then some.
