Pros: some good action, Adrian Alonso Cons: Not enough sword-fighting, flimsy plot at its heart
The Legend of Zorro is the continuing story of the adventures of the man in the black mask. This film in particular is the sequel to 1996's "The Mask of Zorro", and returns the sword-fighter to his fight against tyranny in Southern California. ...
Pros: Banderas, Zeta-Jones. Fun, entertaining movie. Cons: Movie was dumbed down too much. Banderas and Zeta-Jones didn't have enough scenes together.
In 1998, a new Zorro movie, T
he
Mask of Zorro, was released staring Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones, an actress that was mostly unknown in the United States. I saw the movie in the theater and now own the ...
Pros: The look and the acting are acceptable Cons: The story and direction are sadly lacking
In 1850, the citizens of California voted to join the United States. That development did not please everyone. A group of men seemed determined to not only block statehood, but they also tried to force people to sell them their lands. This group made ...
Pros: Lots of action Cons: Dumb plot, too much slapstick
The Legend of Zorro is the sequel to the 1998 hit The Mask of Zorro and reunites stars Antonio Banderas and Catherine Zeta-Jones. It even has the same director as the original, Martin Campbell, who was also behind Goldeneye. You’d ...
Pros: funny, camp, performances and good swashbuckling Cons: too much warmth, silly and predictable story
I haven't hated a movie this much since Wild, Wild, West - and much for the same reasons. The Legend of Zorro isn't all bad, but it strives to be as it munches, crunches and botches all that is good within it. Zorro (Antonio Banderas) is a sort of ...
Pros: Katherine Zeta Jones Cons: Predictable and a bit dumb
As far as I recall, The Legend of Zorro wasn't around for too long during its theatrical release. Did it do poorly? Frankly, I don't know, but based on my recent viewing of the DVD, I can understand why this wasn't a blockbuster, but can't ...
Pros: Rousting action sequences; good supporting performances Cons: Far too much domestic (and terrorist!) storyline
You know you’re in trouble when Antonio Banderas’ Zorro reminds you of Banderas’ milder turns in the Spy Kids movies. Despite its lofty title, The Legend of Zorro actually covers more of The Z Guy’s domestic life than it does his legend. ...
Pros: Good Zorro style action, Performances Cons: Obsession of hollywood directors to show superheros as mere humans continues!!
Introduction It is always fun to see your favorite comic book characters make it to the big screen. So as more and more characters make it to the screen and some of those characters even go on warrant a sequel. So when the Legend of Zorro ...
Pros: Nice scenery of California. Cons: Huge plot holes, unrealistic situations, and villains dumbed down.
I have to admit that I was not a big fan of the first movie. After all, I just couldn't imagine Anthony Hopkins as a believeable Zorro. With that said, it was an ok movie. This sequal, unfortunately, underwhelms in so many ways. ******WARNING ...
Pros: Brief moments of wit and fun Cons: An empty script and self-parody from the cast
Second verse (The Legend of Zorro), same as the first (The Mask of Zorro), but a little bit louder and a little bit worse. Seven years after Antonio Banderas brought new life to the California folk hero Zorro, he returns to usher his land into statehood. ...
Pros: great action, amazing stunts; good story, plot, drama, dialogue, editing, directing, production, etc. Cons: no real cons
THE LEGEND OF ZORRO from 2005 is another masterpiece about America’s very first caped-crusader with a lot of great old-fashioned action and adventure to bring back one of the greatest fictional characters of all-time in such a great thrill-packed ...
Pros: Love is stronger than anything else. Cons: The movie is a little long.
I recently watched "The Legend of Zorro" and I thought it was amazing. Usually sequels are terrible and they ruin everything, but this movie just adds to the "Mask of Zorro". This movie continues right where the mask of zorro left off. Antonio ...
Pros: Antonio Banderas trying to be action hero is funny most of the time Cons: The son of the zorro can be very anoying
The storyline is completely predictable, you know who the bad guy is at the moment he appears, the fights are so fake that are comic... well, you can laugh hard, or you may want to die....
They present the son of the Zorro, who keeps trying to act as the zorro, and tryes to save the day, but keeps messing everything, and putting himself in danger... ok, he may come usefull to save his dad at one time, and he may have a couple of good moments, but for me is really anoying...
Pros: Good plot, photography, action sequences. Humor added. Flows well. Cons: A little long.
For the life of me, I'm flummoxed by the professional reviewers who didn't like this movie. This movie was stylistically changed to add humor and make it a bit more cartoonish. It was intentional.
Additionally, the writing improved in this version. The plot wound toward a dramatic and pleasing end that all members of the family will enjoy. The cinematography was first rate, and the acting by both Bandaras and Zeta-Jones was very good. Their interplay, while not as sexually firy as in the first movie, was loaded with subtleties, and word-twisting fun that enlivened the movie and showed that even the Zorro family can have its misunderstandings and domestic problems. In short, the family is normal.
The acting by the villains was also well done when taken with the perspective that this film was intended to be more humorous and swashbuckling.
Take your entire family and enjoy the movie for its intended purpose: fun, exciting adventure leading to a viewer-friendly climax.
In times of such movies as Saw II, why not go to a movie that provides some wholesome entertainment. Sit back, relax, and enjoy.
Pros: Effectively wasted two hours. Cons: Popcorn was only $1.
I would've walked out except that I drove 45 minutes to get to the theater. Silly me. The plot was bad, the lines bad, and it was way too long.
(The worst thing is that just as I had finished driving 45 minutes, literally one block from the theater, NPR did a review of the movie which I had to switch off so as to not ruin it and since after the drive I was already committed. Shoulda just hit a bar.)
