Pros: 2-D animation, music, gentle--not crass--perfect for families with young children... Cons: Those expecting George to be "flinging poop" will be disappointed...
I don't like monkeys. I really don't. Their almost-humanity freaks me out. It may go back to my cousin Jimmy's birthday party where there was a chimpanzee, and the owner/trainer guy let him climb all over me with his big black hand-feet; the grimacing ...
Pros: Ferrell and Barrymore were great, George was created perfectly, cute, funny, endearing Cons: zero cons
I grew up reading Curious George books, and was well aware of him and the man in the yellow hat. Author H.A. Rey created an intriguing story about a monkey coming to the big city, and how George and the Man with the hat went through many exciting ...
Pros: George's antics, Will Ferrell, inoffensive Cons: definitely more for the younger crowd
When it comes to children’s literature, you don’t get much more classic than Curious George. The mischievous little monkey adored by millions (including Forrest Gump) swung his way into theaters recently, giving youngsters a whole new way in ...
Pros: The movie did well bringing my childhood books to life. Cons: The movie was a bit on the slow side.
Ah childhood, that blissfull time when none of the worries of the adult world have reached us. As a child, Curious George was one of the book series that I read. I remembered the playful monkey, the Man in the Yellow Hat, and all the mischief that George ...
Pros: Bright colors and nicely drawn George; no violence Cons: Theft, destruction of private property, overdone Product placement, lying by adults
After all this time, I was happy to see a new cartoon on the big screen that was based not on action and adventure but fun and a truly good feeling story. We asked our 6 year old to explain what curious meant and he said "getting into trouble". Our ...
Pros: Cute, animation is true to the books, good voice work by Ferrell. Cons: Not much for the adults, but then again, this IS a kiddie flick.
I am a child of the 1960s, so the "Curious George" books were an integral part of my growing up (along with Clifford the Big Red Dog, the Dr. Seuss characters, et. al.). While a few of my favorites did come to life in animated form back then (most ...
Pros: George is so cute and very talented. Cons: None!
Story time was always a time I cherished with my mother. There were so many books to be read that would interest me. Curious George by Hans Augustus Rey and Margaret Rey was one of the books I absolutely loved. I liked it so much that my mother ...
Pros: Delightful old-fashioned animation, mellow music, great cast Cons: It may not hold everyone's attention, but I liked it a lot
Curious George is an old-fashioned animated feature that is nonetheless quite entertaining. It's based on the beloved series of children's books by the husband-wife team of H. A. and Margret Rey. The Reys shared a love of animals, but as German Jews, ...
Pros: Great for young kids (7 or younger), animation, story, acting/voicing, general cuteness Cons: Not enough stuff for adults, music, humor is not "bust a gut" funny for anyone
I remember as a kid either going to the library or the bookmobile (big van made into a rolling library) and always looking for whatever Curious George books I could find. As a parent, I've had the pleasure of reliving that experience with my ...
Pros: Cast, animation, music Cons: Soundtrack has no memorable tunes, not really for adults in the audience
"Mr Bloomsbury's" (voiced by Dick Van Dyke) museum is in financial distress, and needs that one exibit that will bring the crowds back in. He eyes the mythical "Lost Shrine of Zagawa," a forty-foot tall ruby idol carved in the shape of a monkey. He is ...
Pros: Lovable monkey starring, infallible humor, beautiful animation, Jack Johnson's music, thoughtful storyline. Cons: Junior's character, a few bad jokes here and there.
Now first of all, I love Curious George, almost everything about it. It's quality animation, music, characters (especially its title one) with voices that are spot-on. I saw it five times in the theater and will buy the DVD the day it comes out. I also ...
Pros: Great character development of George and Ted Cons: dialogue too droning for very young kids
boring plot
I loved "Curious George" as a kid. I am not a movie person. I am especially not an animated movie person. I have nothing against them, I just have a short attention span. That being said, I thought "Curious George" would be right up my alley and was ...
Pros: George, great for kids, lessons learned, they all live happily ever after. Cons: Not made for adults.
We took our two kids, ages 3 and 5, to see Curious George over the weekend. The book is based on the lovable children's books, written by H.A. Rey. While the movie is not based on any of the actual stories in the books, it holds true to the theme of ...
Pros: good music, great cast Cons: unnecessary love interest
I am 27 years old and I have to say that I love this movie! When it first came out over a year ago I never saw it and never heard much about it. Now I have a 2 year old son and we watch Curious George on PBS together. So when I saw this on clearance ...
Delightful Family Friendly Movie by georgeorge ,Nov 25 '06
Pros: The storyline, the music, the adorable animation, the humor, and the non-objectionable material throughout Cons: The unsophisticated theme might not appeal to everyone
I took my 5 year old to see this movie and was prepared for the worst. Instead I was pleasantly surprised.
Will Farrell, while not my favorite actor, did an excellent job as the voice of the Man in the Yellow Hat. The animation was adorable, the simple color lines very bright and happy, the script was well written with cute humor throughout, and the music was great. The only negative was the choice of Drew Barrymore as Ted's admirer. Her voice just didn't fit the simple childlike theme of the movie.
All in all, it's rare when you can find a movie that has no inappropriate content or objectionable material, and that's actually entertaining. In my opinion, the movie industry needs to make more movies like this. Applause, applause!
