Pros: Van Dyke, Rooney, and Cobbs have fun, other fun moments
Cons: Logic and characterization get lost; climax turns heavy

Pros: Good cast, effects, music, and a lot of fun
Cons: Too slow at first, a bit vicious in places.

Night At The Museum --- With Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson (yes, again)

by three_ster three_ster is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Movies, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 10, Mar 18 '07
Pros: some funny moments, an intriguing premise
Cons: much of the story falls flat, lack of real emotion, didn't have consistancy in presentation
Ben Stiller is Larry Daley, a guy between jobs, in the new film Night At the Museum. He hasn't had a lot of success in regards to holding down a career, and that could translate very negatively in his private life. His ex-wife doesn't feel that ...

Pros: Highly entertaining family action/adventure for the Holidays
Cons: The trailer gave away too much, but the film is still well worth it!

Much better than expected!!

by duckbooks , Jan 07 '08
Pros: family friendly, totally funny, action and adventure!
Cons: some foul language
I was extremely wary of seeing this movie. I'd seen the previews and written it off as another one of those "kid's" movies that in truth are full of adult content. Then we were at a friend's house and they put it on for the kids and assured me I would ...

Ok Movie

by lynnepark , Mar 21 '07
Pros: Nice theme
Cons: Boring and not very funny
I am a huge Ben Stiller fan so I was pretty excited when his newest movie, Night at the Museum, came out. My family and I went to see it almost immediately. We are also Owen Wilson fans as well. A perfect combination to create yet another funny movie, ...

Museum History Stupidly Comes Alive

by earthgone , May 01 '07
Pros: Cameos of real dinosaurs - Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobbs
Cons: Pointless storyline and fake dinosaur
This movie sort of resembles "Jumanji" with all the animals running wild, but at least "Jumanji" had a storyline. "Night at the Museum" is a pointless journey about history coming alive and how father-son relationships can be restored because of ...

A Great Family Film

by marsmandy , May 19 '07
Pros: No cursing, good family oriented material, funny
Cons: Slow at times, but not very often, picks up quick.
I was skeptical about watching Night at the Museum, at first worried that it may be too infantile for me. However, I adore Ben Stiller, the lead character, so I decided to give it a try. I'm so thrilled I did. I loved this movie. The plot has great ...

Night at the Museum Very Funny Family Movie

by cba505 , Apr 11 '07
Pros: Lots of fun great family movie
Cons: slight rude talk may not be suitable for children under school age.
I saw this movie in the theater I thought it was very funny although the beginning seemed to be really slow and you start to wonder when something is going to happen. Ben Stiller's character placed a divorced father trying to get a job and live a more ...

Light-hearted and fun, great to see familiar old faces

by puppygirl , Mar 28 '07
Pros: Great special effects, very very funny movie.
Cons: Robin Williams did not have as big of a role as I would have liked.
A Night at the Museum is a wonderful film. My boyfriend who is SO not into comedies in theater, thought this was hysterical. I loved every minute of it. I was thrilled to see a movie with actors such as Mickey Rooney, Dick Van Dyke, and Bill Cobbs, ...

Not Your Regular Night At The Museum
by femasia ,Dec 20 '06
Pros: Hilarious, silly, entertaining
Cons: If you're very technical, the over-the-top things might bother you
This was a fantastic and humorous movie! I laughed from the beginning to the end of the movie. The title of the movie does the movie no justice because it makes one think that it would not be as humorous as a movie as it is. There are not many characters in the movie, but you enjoy laughing at the ones who are in it so much that you don't really notice that the scenes are mainly in the museum. It's a movie for the single parent who are down on their luck in finding employment and dealing with his or her kids after the divorce; that is the underlying theme. Even children will enjoy this movie no matter what age they are. My favorite character was "Dexter", the monkey in the movie. It's an unrealistic and silly movie, but that is the entire point of the movie. It does help tremendous for the audience to know U.S. history. In a way, it is a good way to test your children's knowledge of history; although the movie doesn't truly stick to the history. I can't find anything bad to say about this movie.

Great escape from a cold winter night
by nbery ,Jan 31 '07
Pros: Creative kids movie. Loved the effects!
Cons: A little too long.
I went to see this movie with my children based on encouraging words from other families. It's a fun movie to see with kids and although the story is textbook (slacker parent comes thru for the son) the overall movie is new. It is an imaginative view of the museum and gets you talking about going to visit one. My daughter can't stop asking to read up about some of the historical characters because they are presented in an interesting manner...and because she recognized some from school. This is stuff you just don't get any more, with any kinds of children's entertainment. And although there is potential for scary stuff, nothing is too scary for my 5 year old. Everything has a humorous twist.
Totally worth it. Even my husband put away his Blackberry to watch it.

Ok movie, excellent on an IMAX screen
by groove1 ,Dec 24 '06
Pros: Great for a holiday escape especially for kids
Cons: A little stupid and silly in some parts
I actually saw this film on an IMAX dome screen at a museum, Discovery Place in Charlotte.

The movie was decent. Our local newspaper's critic called it an ok brain break for the holiday season, and that is basically what it is. It is definitely good for families with only one scene that might seem even stupid and ridiculous to a 6 year old.

The premise is as simple as a Saturday morning cartoon. Stiller's character takes a job as a night guard at a museum. Every thing comes to life at night because of a table that arrived 50+ years ago. Some of the CGI was good and most was flawlessly seamed into the movie. It was a wonderful treat to see these scenes in IMAX with 12000 watts of sound.

Kids will definitely enjoy this, parents will chuckle a couple of times, and the kids might even learn a little bit of history, like how the South ended up with NASCAR ;)

A Fun Night at the Movies
by craivios ,Feb 28 '07
Pros: The cast
Cons: None
I love Ben Stiller and was anxious to see this movie because of the promos.

The story could have progressed with any actors, but to include Dick Van Dyke, Mickey Rooney and Bill Cobbs was wonderful. Ricky Gervais was not in the movie for long, but did a terrific job. The best part was having Anne Meara (half of one of my favorite comedy groups of all time), Ben's mom, as the worker at the unemployment office.

I also enjoyed how the story unfolded. I had no idea what was going to happen next.

This is a real feel-good movie and I am glad I saw it in the theater. It was fun for all and a very enjoyable night for my whole family.

Night at the Museum..
by newone2 ,Oct 10 '09
Pros: Great for the entire family lots of action and laughter...
Cons: NONE
This was a great movie for the entire family.  With the characters, animals all coming to life when the museum closed and Ben's character was the onlly one to see all that.  It was so cool!!

If you want to laugh and be amazed at the action, and the so life like events.  Check this one out great for home video collection or as a gift!
I think if you want to share some adventure with your kids by having a movie night this is definitely the one to watch...

You will also learn so much about history of events you may not have throught about.  I've watched it a few times.

I LOVED WATCHING THIS MOVIE!!! Night of the Museum

Night at the Museum Review
by joshuasmommy ,Feb 17 '09
Pros: Captures the innocent imagaination of a child.
Cons: Couldn't really think of any cons.
I tend to be really fussy about movies I like. I was really bored one day and watched this movie. I LOVED it. It's so simple and childlike. It struck a chord with me somehow. I like the Easter Island Statue but I also like how Jedidiah was able to vocalize his feelings. I just like that it's a movie I can relax to and laugh at. I decided to buy it because of it's simplicity and the innocence and imagination it presents. I could imagine a child wondering what happens at the museum at night. It's perfect.  It also has made me want to research history because I don't know alot about Attila the Hun, Easter Island or anything like that.  I like the Easter Island Statue saying "You give me Gum Gum."  For some reason, that is my favorite part of the movie.  I like the silly rhyming that he does.   It just endears him to me.  He's just an innocent character and I like it.

Night at the Museum-Wahoo!
by m0vietim3 ,May 15 '07
Pros: wonderful animation
Cons: better story line
Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson play magnificent parts together because their senses of humor bounce off each other which really make it fun. Ben Stiller plays that part of a watch guard for the night shift at the New York’s Museum of Natural History where everything isn’t really what it seems. Being the guard for the night shift really doesn’t sound like to much fun until things unexpectedly start to come to life. There is some great computer animation that really makes you feel you are apart of the action happening. Ben Stiller is supposedly a loser dad who can’t do anything right and wants to show his son a good time for once and he promises he won’t let him down. This movie was put together with great live-action which brought a cartoon feeling to the movie. It felt like an experience for me as Ben Stiller walked through the Natural History Museum during the day and night and how much different things where when the hours changed. I thought this was a great movie for kids and I think adult will also get a kick out of it because of such great humor.
