Pros: Nice user interface, lots of powerful features, syncs, integration with Ancestry.com, handling of foreign characters.
Cons: Crashes, freezes, failed syncs, slow, traversing tree a little slow, Ancestry.com not useful to us.
Summary: Family Tree Maker Essentials 2012 was somewhat of a disappointment to me. Not because it does not have as many features as Deluxe or Platinum version, but because it was unstable and problematic, and I also found that Ancestry.com was not useful to us. ... read more
