Pros: Inexpensive, Durable, does complete most tasks, good for students up to Geometry. (8th grade)
Cons: Crowded Layout, battery powered, (should be solar), poor functionality, and only 3 memory slots

Summary: It has always been my policy to try and find a good use for items I purchase. Most of the time these purchases are under researched impulse buys that were required to complete a task and made with such haste that one does not even consider the ... read more

Pros: Logically laid out keyboard, includes all basic functions, inexpensive
    Cons: Limited functions

Summary: The TI-30X is the standard calculator used in most science classes at the University of Ottawa, where I am a student. Even though students in my engineering classes mostly use TI-86 and TI-89 models, I have used the TI-30X in some instances where ... read more

  • Very good for lab work

    Mar 13, 2001
Pros: Cheap, has solar panel, relatively big buttons, more than enough functions for scientific work.
Cons: reliability: I've seen couple of them dead; hard to read purple on gray.

Summary: I needed a calculator for my work in a molecular biology lab. It had to do logs, 1/x, constants and regression. So, I took a catalog and figured that TI 30X solar fits my needs and was the cheapest model of all listed. I had been working well for about ... read more

    Pros: It worked
    Cons: It broke

Summary: I bought this product when I was in college to aid me in my math class. When it worked it was a great calculator. Then one day out of the blue the numbers started fading out, not all of the numbers faded, just some of them. For example if I typed 8 all ... read more

Pros: Costs next to nothing, does all your basic functions
Cons: Doesn't graph, but what do you expect?

Summary: First of all, let me start by telling you what this calculator won't do. It won't graph functions or equations for you, nor will it solve complex, multidimensional matrices. It won't calculate complex or two-variable statistics or probabilities ... read more

Cons: Very poor design of memory functions.

Summary: As an initial warning, I must state that I have been using an TI-30 for the last eleven years, and I love it. This opinion may be a bit biased in favor of the TI-30. Overview: The TI-30 is a basic scientific calculator, offering some ... read more

Pros: Looks cool, 3 memory locations
Cons: Poor button layout, missing functionality, not durable, unreliable, awkward to use, expensive

Summary: It's not durable because the display screen fades until it is unusable. The button layout is poor because the operators are placed too far away from the numbers and are not well-distinguished from other buttons. Thus, doing calculations on this

  • BEST design!

Pros: Easy to read. simplistic design.
Cons: The battery has to be replaced.

Summary: After using this calculator I can't use any other one. The design is so simplistic and elegant. It makes all the other ones seem busy and confusing. It works well for me, I have never had it do anything erratic. However, I only use it for algebra 1

Pros: Solar, parenthesis, price, back-space key, 3 memory locations, stays clean, design
    Cons: Somewhat cheaply made/plastic feel

Summary: I have used this calculator at work for over 5 years and I have always had good results. The solar panel works well under fluorescent lighting. I especially like the 3 memory positions and parenthesis for performing longer equations without paper.

    Pros: Inexpensive, simple construction
Cons: All of the problems states above

Summary: This calculator has behaved erratically since I bought it (and another of the same model for my partner) two years ago. The buttons are both overly sensitive to the point that you have to be extra careful not to brush against another number as you
