  • Cutting to the Chase About the Fellowes PS80C-2 Shredder

    May 7, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: does cut paper into fairly small pieces when it works, handles staples (sort of)
Cons: pulls paper unevenly, papers can get stuck and unsticking them gets messy, awkward height

Summary: I've never been one to feel like every personal document needs to be shredded, nor has shredding paper ever been a big part of my job. Thus I've not been more than a very casual user of paper shredders. This led me to erroneously believe that, give or ... read more

  • What a piece of junk!

    Nov 22, 2007 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: When it works, it works reasonably well.
Cons: At the cost of the shredder, I spent seventy dollars a box to shred documents.

Summary: We've had a Fellowes PS80C-2 for a couple of years and hardly used it. About a month ago, I finally decided to shred some documents from a deceased relative, and at first, the shredder worked okay. I won't accept anywhere near the advertised 10-page ... read more

  • Flawed product

    Mar 23, 2005 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
    Pros: Shreds quickly.
Cons: Needs to be replaced after a very short period of time.

Summary: My office has this shredder for every day shredding of company and client documents. According to Fellowes this shredder can handle 10 sheets of paper at a time, with 50-100 passes per day (500-1000 pieces of paper, or 1-2 reams of 20# paper). To keep ... read more

  • Awesome little shredder

    Jul 11, 2004 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: 10 sheet capacity; shreds CCs, CDs, staples and small paperclips; large built-in wastebasket
Cons: Could be considered pricey for light-duty use

Summary: After one of my friends had her identity stolen, I decided that my wish to have a shredder was not born out of paranoia, but dire reality. However, I didn’t want a cheap POS strip-cut shredder that would break after a couple of months and still allow ... read more

  • just rcvd this - I'm impressed

    Jan 27, 2004 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: plenty of power, nice colors, no need to remove heavy head to empty
    Cons: none yet.

Summary: I just rcvd this unit to replace an FS60CC that ate up another plastic gear (2nd time-every gear but 1 is steel). This one has a much lower pitched sound and sounds like it could chew thru a 1/4 inch board. With 10 sheets I could barely tell it was ... read more

  • I'd pick another brand.

    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: Worked good for 1.4 years.
    Cons: Not built to last.

  • Worst Shredder I've Ever Used!

    Jul 14, 2003 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
    Pros: None

  • An overworked shredder

    Jun 5, 2001 by
    Rated a Helpful Review
Pros: Good for light duty use only. Not recommended for medium to heavy office use.
Cons: Shredding five to ten sheets a day, the machine just gave out.

Summary: In my opinion, this machine was purchased for our office without any input from our staff. Needless to say the machine was to small for our application. I was amazed it lasted this long. This seemed to be a great deal for an occasional use shredder. ... read more

  • It shreds like a mutha

    Sep 15, 2000 by
    Rated a Very Helpful Review
Pros: I can easily destroy confidential papers and not worry about someoen being sneaky
    Cons: none

Summary: We have this shredder in our office just for occasional shredding of confidential papers. Mostly we keep all papers here at work in storage and itís a mess! But sometimes there are things they donít want binded and stored, so off to the shredder I go. ... read more

  • Terrible Shredder

    Sep 25, 2006 by
    Rated Show
Pros: It's heavy, repeatedly lifting the PS80C-2 off the bin for repairs is like weight training.
Cons: It cannot shred paper in any reliable capacity, and can cause employee psychosis

Summary: The PS80C-2 is the only shredder I have used thus far, but I can say that it must be among the worst available. This shredder is messy, temperamental, and frustrating. Every third time I use it, it jams. You can only shred two or three pages at a time, ... read more

  • worth every penny

    May 19, 2006 by

Pros: tough and solid gears. confetti cutting. auto-on/off.
    Cons: pricey, but worth it.

Summary: This shredder rocks. it is bombproof in its mechanisms and i can't imagine being able to jam it. just shove in the whole envelope of junk mail and watch it disappear. the confetti cut is the only way to go. why shred something that would take ... read more

  • Flawed after little use

Pros: Looks good, easy to empty, has reverse.Works fine at first. Has window to see level in basket.
Cons: High price. Tends to feed paper unevenly. It is quickly turning into useless junk!

Summary: This shredder went down hill quickly. This was caused by the cutter disks coming loose on the shafts. So far I have not found a source of parts! These units should be recalled and replaced with ones that are made with improved cutters. This shredder ... read more

  • Not My Choice

    Pros: Looks nice
    Cons: Don't waste your money

  • It clogs itself.

    Feb 21, 2005 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Nothing special for office-class shredder
Cons: It gets clogged with shredded paper by itself

Summary: My company bought this shredder December, 2004. We haven't use it much because of its major flaw: it clogs itself with shredded paper. The shredding power is good. It can shred a credit card without difficulty. But after some shredding, the ... read more

  • Built to Break

    Nov 11, 2004 by
    Rated Show
    Pros: Cheap, too cheap
    Cons: You name it!

Summary: Probably the biggest disappointment was when I opened the internal housing. Plastic gears? For such a high torque device there is only one explanation for this obvious flaw. Designed in flaws. The American automobile manufactures learned a long time ... read more

  • Fellows PS80C-2 Owner

    Oct 22, 2004 by
    Rated Show
    Pros: No Pros
Cons: No replacement parts other than blades

Summary: I've owned two of these dogs. The shredder works fine until one of the plastic fingers or guides between the cutting wheels breaks. Then the cuttings get jambed causing more and more teeth to break. They will sell you new metal blades but if its a part ... read more

  • Died after 1-1/2 years

    Sep 11, 2004 by
    Rated Show
Pros: The machined shredded into confetti very well.
Cons: The capacity of the machine was overstated and the durability was poor.

Summary: Capacity is overstated and the plastic fingers on the underside of the cutter head broke off and the cutting head would not turn. When I called the company, they said repair parts were not available. The person who answered the phone said that this was ... read more

    Pros: Smooth operation initially.
Cons: No spares or after sales support out of warranty. Unreliable.

Summary: The after-sales service seemed good for the first year but the 7 year cutter warranty was never likely to be claimed against because the other components failed shortly after the first year. No spare parts are available for the product so when it goes ... read more

  • Broken plastic guides killed the shredder in 2 yrs

    Jun 16, 2004 by
    Rated Show
Pros: Shreds well while it lasts
    Cons: Not durable

Summary: This shredder is born to die early. It worked well for several years. Then a bad design allows plastic guides to break in normal use, and are these not repairable. The manufacturer tells you that it is your fault because your didn't oil it enough. Why ... read more

  • No More Fellowes for me.

    May 20, 2004 by
    Rated Show
    Pros: Cross-cut feature, reversible
Cons: Flimsy, noisy, not built to last.

Summary: My PS-80 lasted about 1 1/2 years with moderate use, no staples or paperclips and no more than 5 pages at a time, otherwise it got balky. Then I accidentally sent a staple through and the darn thing died a horrible, noisy death. When I tried to get it ... read more
