Freshwater Barracuda NORTHERN PIKE.

by smallmouth smallmouth is a Top Reviewer on Epinions in Sports & Outdoors, Epinions Most Popular Authors - Top 500, Mar 07 '01
Pros: They are huge, aggressive and fight like the dickens.
Cons: Razor blade teeth and a nasty disposition.
The most important thing to remember when fishing for pike is to use a wire leader. This Fish is a Freshwater Barracuda. BEWARE of their teeth. Nothing is more exciting for this bass fisherman then when I get out on Lake Champlain to do some ...

The Sad, Untold Story About Northern Pike and the Southcentral Alaska Epidemic

by glacier , Jun 08 '06
Pros: Amazingly Speed and Fight, Native to Central Region of the State
Cons: Threatening to infiltrate and dessimate multi-billion dollar commercial and sport fishing industries.
Editor's Note: You may be about to read what amounts to the only negative review of Northern Pike you've ever seen. As a sport fish, they are energetic, feisty and downright thrilling to catch--even dangerous at times (try wearing waders with a ...

fire up the grill and get out the garlic butter!

by kevlog , Sep 11 '00
Pros: tastes good with butter and garlic
Cons: well, they have lots of sharp teethlike things on roof of mouth
I can't even believe I stumbled upon this category! I'm so excited my hands are shaking like they were that day I caught my only Northern Pike 'up north' in Benzonia County, Michigan. What a fish! What a memory! All I can tell you is that Pike really go...

A Great Fishing Experience

by ginger136 , Sep 13 '00
Pros: Decent fight, easy to catch
Cons: Not the best-tasting fish
Being a Florida boy, I had never fished for nor heard of Northern Pike until I was stationed at Minot, North Dakota which is paradise if you love the outdoors. Up there, you can fish for pike all year except for the brief periods in between seasons. In...

The king of fresh water.

by justinsmith , Nov 16 '00
Pros: Great fighters, taste great, big, and easy to entice a strike.
Cons: lots of bones, big sharp numerous teeth.
If you want to have an awesome fishing trip, go fishing for northerns. They are big, mean, and fight like crazy. They bite on anything that moves. Plus, the are great to eat. Here in Minnesota everyone has walleyes on the brain, but those silly folks...

Land that lunker.

by cbn458 , Jul 21 '00
Pros: Aggressive, acrobatic.
Cons: Watch those fingers!
I'm pretty fortunate to live in Maine and have family in both Ascoda, Michigan, and Saranac Lake, New York. Why? One of the reasons is that all three states possess great pike waters. Even though Pike live all over the country, they still respond to...

What a Fight

by karatekid303 , Dec 15 '00
Pros: Great Fight
Cons: Sharp Teeth, Be Careful
There is nothing like laying into a large Northern Pike. This is possibly the best fight you will ever experience of any freshwater fish. Try working around the edge of the weedlines. I would recommend using a RedDevil, probably 3/4 ounce variety....

Great eating and a fair game fish

by ke8yy , Jun 21 '04
Pros: A big, tasty fish
Cons: All those bones...!
Northern Pike are not the greatest game fish out there, but they are a great Northern tradition. The flesh is sweet, the fish can run to huge size, and they're strong fighters while they last. Here in Michigan, there's only one way to catch pike, and ...

Nothing better than pike fishin'

by soccerguy , Dec 15 '00
Pros: Very fun and good practice.
Cons: Slimy!
Being so close to Fort Peck lake in Montana, I'm a major fisherman.
One of my favorite things to do when I'm not in any tournaments or serious fishing is fishing for northern pike. It's a very exciting experience when you feel a giant pike...

Pros: Catch big pike
Cons: you might get wet
When you look inside of your tackle box do you see any lure that will catch big ol' 36 inch pike and bigger, if you you do , i would say your looking at a red and white red devil.

To go after big pike with a red devil is easy,...
