Schoolcraft State Park

Pros: Lovely peaceful, like a mini-Itasca. Small and easy to walk.
Cons: None.

We visited this small, little known park located near Grand Rapids and I fell in love with it. Towering pines and needle strewn paths meander next to the grassy placid Mississippi. There was no one else there, and I felt such peace and tranquility.

Combine a trip to Schoolcraft with a visit to the Forest History Center in Grand Rapids. This would make a great outing.
