Pros: beautiful scenery, nice campground, great trails Cons: access road is very busy, now surrounded by growing development
I admit total bias for this park, it is a major part of my life and my decision to go into studies involving forestry, wildlife and environmental issues. If I had to choose one place that helped me turn into the person I am, it is this park.

Take an urban break...

Pros: Activities everyday. Very approachable park - day trips or overnighters. Cons: Go in the warmer weather. Not to hot, not too cold.
As a native of the area, Pocahontas became a regular weekend target. Its a medium sized state park (for the state of Virginia) with activities ranged for the most intense outdoor junkie to the most relaxed couple. See the beauty and feel the history of Chesterfield County.
