Pros: Beautiful, Nice trails, Plenty of scenic outlooks, family fun Cons: Sometimes too many people, and the trail may get tricky at times for some individuals
Copper Falls is a very beautiful and scenic park. It's a great place to have a family picnic, explore, and to camp at. Camp Sites are available about 1/3 mile away from the park, but are located on a private roadway. From the Beginning: The Parking ...
Pros: Beautiful scenic trails winding around a river of many breathtaking waterfalls Cons: Those pesky mosquitoes and horseflies
I am originally from northern Wisconsin. So this being my first camping trip as an adult; I thought what better a place to go than Copperfalls.
Copperfalls State Park is located just outside a small town called Mellen. The park's trails are...
Pros: Scenery, scenery, scenery!!!! Cons: chilly in early and late camp season
Being a Wisconsinite it is hard for me to ever really feel like I am on vacation if I remain in state. Unless I am at Copper Falls State park. This, in my opinion is by far the most scenic of all Wisconsin state parks.
Located in the far...
Pros: Beautiful unique almost western like gorge in Wisconsin. Cons: The park planners should keep it simple.
You would never imagine to find a place like this in Wisconsin. Located in the remote part of the state, south of Ashland, this red-rocked gorge with its root beer colored water reminds me a little of Utah or Colorado.
A beautiful trail encircles the gorge with great views and pine trees.
Unfortunately, this is another Wisconsin park where they keep you away from being close to the action. Admittedly, it would be difficult to construct access into the gorge, though I have seen some pretty formidable places in Minnesota granted access by means of a stairway.
Also, I don't like the overly tidy bridges and paths, and the patio like concession area in the main area. I guess I have a different philosophy of state parks.
There are places you can get in the stream though above the gorge, and the park has other sections we did not explore.
Despite my reservations, I really enjoyed this park, it is a great place to experience the unique rocks, dark waters and pines of the Superior region.
