Pros: Nice looking small SUV Cons: Some usability complaints, cheesy trim/interior details, sloppy steering... The Bottom Line: The Pontiac Torrent is a fairly average vehicle overall. I'm not sure I'd want to buy one, but it's an okay rental ride...
Mobile Alabama isn't the kind of place you can get around in without your own wheels, so the good folks over at Alamo Car Rental were kind enough to rent me a nice, barely broken in (4500 on the odo), deep dark blue 2006 Pontiac Torrent to handle my ...

Pros: Styling, interior versatility, rear legroom Cons: Steering feel, handling could be sportier, interior materials The Bottom Line: Worth a look, but retains most of the weaknesses of the Equinox.
The Chevrolet Equinox, though very late to the compact car-based SUV party, has done well for Chevrolet. Unlike most GM products, this one has met its sales goals without large rebates. At the same time, the Equinox hasn't been well-received by the ...

Pros: Handling under 70mph, performance, cargo room Cons: Handling over 70mph, boring looks, so-so ergonomics The Bottom Line: Its not a vehicle to get excited over, it's average.
Background: We needed a rental car at the Long Beach Airport and thanks to a special being run by Alamo were able to get a small SUV for less than a mid-sized car. The Alamo site said it could be a Chevy Avalanche or similar. I was hoping it ...

Pros: the exterior design, rear seat room, mileage, handling, 3.4L V6 185hp engine Cons: check options before buying, rear hatch, gas tank opening useability The Bottom Line: I would recommend to anyone who is in the market for a smaller SUV to look at the Torrent. Pontiac built excitement in an SUV!
After thorough browsing websites and classifieds, my wife and I decided on purchasing a 2006 Pontiac Torrent from a local used car dealer. My wife and I don't have any kids yet, but when we do, we know that we will need something that handles the ...

Pros: Stylish, well equipped for the outdoors and affordable Cons: blind spots The Bottom Line: If your looking for an SUV, I recommend that you look into purchasing the 2006 Pontiac Torrent. It's one of the stylish, well equipped and affordable vehicles on the market.
Due to a recent automobile accident and finding out from my insurance company that my car was considered a total loss, I found myself out and about shopping around for a new vehicle. What a great way to start out a new year! Little did I know, this ...

Pros: Great size, handles well in all conditions. Cons: None so far. I love it! The Bottom Line: Great car, great handling, a true pleasure to drive.
I purchased a 2006 Pontiac Torrent AWD about 8 months ago. I bought it slightly used with about 8000 miles on it, but it drives like brand-new. The Torrent has been my first “new” car that I got to pick out and pay for myself, so I have been very proud ...

Pros: Nice to look at and fairly comfortable.
Cons: Nothing but problems, will get rid of it as soon as I can .
Bought brand new one year and 12K miles ago. It's a beautiful vehicle to look at. Too bad that's only skin deep. The entire interior is made of substandard materials. the materials used on the Pontiac G5 is by far superior, and it costs 10K less. Apprx ten trips to the dealer so far and the ignition still isn't right. The sunroof has twice been repaired for leaks, and the stereo has been replaced twice so far. I bought this on a GMAC "Smart Buy" that has mileage limitations. Every problem is 46 miles round trip, and hours of my wasted time. Being my ninth Pontiac, I trusted that Pontiac would being willing to help out a little. What a mistake, I was essentially told "Oh well, sorry".
There will not be a tenth Pontiac, I'll own a Hyundai.

Pros: lots of interior space for its overall size. stylish, we think anyway. comfortable seating. Cons: somewhat stiff ride. don't care for the steering wheel adjustment.
My wife and I bought a new Torrent on Valentines day of this year for her to drive. Living in Alaska our 2 main concerns were winter driving and fuel economy. I liked the all wheel drive aspect the most. It handles very good on snow and ice! As far as fuel economy it has been pretty much what the sticker said it would be depending on how and who drives it. It seems to be a good vehicle for the money, we opted for less fluff and more brawn when choosing options. Only thing that has happened is one of the small stereo speakers in the drivers door has developed a vibration when you turn up the stereo. Other than that seems to be a pretty solid rig so far.
