Pros: Inexpensive, fast, reliable, technological improvements continuously, awesome 3D and great benchmarks Cons: Some Athlon motherboards require a BIOS flash upgrade to be compatible with Athlons over 700MHz
Note: My original review of the Athlon was written back when I first joined Epinions and was lacking in information and was not very well written. I have deleted that review in an attempt to write a better review of a product that deserves such...
Pros: Can clock in at 2.2 GHz stable. Cons: Not a huge OC as from a 1700+ T-Bred B.
The AMD Atlhon XP was always the most efficent CPU out there, running against Intel's onslaught of Pentium 4s at a lower clock speed - and usually meeting or beating them! The new Barton series of Athlon XPs, now shoehorned with 512 kb of L2 cache, is ...
Pros: Lowest multiplier in the Barton family; good for OC'ing. Cons: Only has 333MHz FSB stock. Starts out at 1.65 vcore.
Overall I bought this for a PC that I built for myself to play around with and then sell. I had this for a little over a month and had ample time to determine if I really liked it or not, and I have to say that for the price, this is a ...
Pros: Low price comparing with P4, stable performance, good overclocker, easy to install Cons: Not the fastest processor
I purchased the AMD Athlon XP2500 Barton Retail to use it in a new computer I was building. It is based on the B
iostar
M7NCD-Pro motherboard and was combined with Kingston 512Mb DDR333 (PC2700) RAM. ...
Pros: delivers highest speed on the (PC) market Cons: two issues as described for 1GHz models
As said in other epinions about the Athlon, this year AMD finally is able to take the crown from Intel. I myself have not purchased Intel processors in the last 4 years. I had a K5, K6 and a K6-2. (Time for an upgrade, right?)
Pros: Fast, cheap, excellent in the cache department- a real pentium killer on a budget Cons: none- a cheap overclockers dream and great closing chapter of the Athlon legacy
I can't stress how impressed I am with this little Chip...For the last few years I've been steadily upgrading my computer every so often with a motherboard/CPU combo and every so often a new HD and/or ROM... I bought the Athlon 2500+ Barton for a bargain ...
Pros: Cheap, powerful, overclocks to 3200+ easily and stays cool, new 512KB L2 Barton core Cons: The 166 MHz FSB requires overclocking to be perfectly in sync with newer DDR-400 RAM
Technical specs: Clock speed: 1826 MHz FSB: 166 MHz Multiplier: 11x Default voltage: 1.65 V L2 cache: 512 KB Platform: Socket A Performance rating: 2500+ (more on this below) My previous processor was an Athlon XP 1700+ (1463 MHz Palomino ...
Pros: Intel busting raw power! Takes ALL the work out of 3D acceleration (get the GeForce anyway...and then feel bad about the upcoming 3dFX offering), PRICE vs. power!, RAW rendering muscle, OVERCLOCKING (you want us to , dontcha???) Cons: Um.....are you serious about the cache speed? , Motherboard choice, some prog incompatibility (not really, if you know how to bypass certain display properties)
Ok...so I get my new Athlon 750 and IMMEDIATELY get a box up and running. Thinking that I am king of the gaming and rendering world, I am simply astounded that I, VP of tiny Bayshops Inc. on the central coast of CA. , get to try out this latest iteration...
Pros: Good Value, Good Overclocking potential Cons: motherboard availability
For the value oriented consumer, it means that there is a processor in the value product line that offers decent performance. Priced at $77 (according to pricewatch.com at writing of this article) for a 600MHz Duron, it is a cheaper alternative to the...
Pros: Cheaper compartively, Used in Servers and Desktops. Cons: Won't be here for a while, 6-9 months more than likely
AMD, Advanced Micro Devices is the only company that will next year begin selling a chip, Aimed at the everyday ordinary Consumer that will be 64 bits.. When we started, over 10 years ago, things were 8 bits. They progressed to 16 bits in the day's of...
Pros: 7th generation architecture, FAST, inexpensive Cons: Few to speak of...
I am co-owner of Mallard Technologies Inc., a Tulsa, Oklahoma based PC manufacturer/retailer (http://www.mallardtech.com - come buy a computer from us!) Not only do I own the company, I also am heavily involved in sales and support, and I spend lots of...
So there I was, considering an upgrade to my computer. Before started to purchase anything (as I was going to make it myself) I did a lot a research into what I wanted in my computer. There was one item for which I needed to do no research; this was the...
I just recently purchased an 800 MHz Athlon and installed it in a MicroStar 6195 K7Pro (which is expandable upto the 1GHz processor). I bought the combo motherboard/cpu for $347.27, which is an unbelievable price for both. I also just finished...
