Pros: Feature-rich, nForce4 chipset, layout, high performance, PCI-Express, SLI capable, dual RAID Cons: Expensive, no AGP slot, marginal documentation, terrible technical support
With Microsoft getting ready to release Windows XP Prof. 64 sometime this year (2005), the 64 bit craze is about to get even hotter and AMD's Athlon 64 processor is a great alternative to Intel's aging P4 line. Even without the 64 bit operating system, ...
Pros: -reasonably priced
-cutting edge features
-a very well constructed.excellent user manual included.
-hugely expandable. Cons: none noticed.
This was my first PC build, and it went off without a hitch thanks,in large part,to this motherboard. Asus did a fine job in engineering an extremely user friendly system that eliminates many of the snags associated with building a system. The manual ...
Pros: Corporate attitude so disrespectful to grave technical issue, any strengths are completely outweighed by problem. Cons: Only MoBo incompatible w/WindowsXP's SP3=endless-bootup crashes, messy/complex restoration process in recovery console.
I am shocked and disturbed by ASUS products' high ratings, given my experience, not only with this motherboard, but (more importantly) with ASUS utter disinterest in providing support for a very serious design flaw with this product: This board is ...
Pros: ASUS Honors 2yr WARRANTY (fan failure)
RUNS WELL WITH UBUNTU 7.04 Cons: Fans may fail
This board has real good capabilities and on-board sound like you wouldn't believe. DVD playback is good. Music sounds great and is surround sound capable. The sound auto senses in WIN XP which is nice. I am running 1gb memory; AMD 64 bit 3000 ...
Pros: Great software, Plenty of Ram space, PLenty of ports for HDD, USB, and Firewire Cons: Not as nice as the practically same a8n32-sli deluxe, i feel cheated
I liked everything about this motherboard except for one thing, to get TRUE 16x SLI u have to pay 90 dollars more for the A8N32-SLi Deluxe.
Pros: Easy Overclocking features
Supports SLI
Incorporates duel channle RAM Cons: after about 10 months the chipset fan failed.
i've been using this motherboard for over a year now and have not been happier. The reason i bourght this motherboard is that it simply fitted into my price range. It's AI overclocking features are very usefull for first time overclockers and for those looking for a quite computer, it supports AMD's Cool&Quite technology.
My only problem with this motherboard is the chipset fan, I don't know why asus would put a 20mm 8000rpm fan on a chipset, but after 10 months it failed, i overcame this by just buying a heatsink for it. 9/10
Pros: Nice board, smooth speed, good hardware extras Cons: Drivers incomplete, AI NOS buggy, some odd locations for plugins
A top rated board by more than 4 PCgamer style magazine, I bought this board thinking it would be the perfect setup board for my new fangled SLI AMD computer. Installation was easy, but the Fan1 connector is on the farthest bottom right end of the board, making it a far reach. I installed the board and the drivers and found out that the drivers are incomplete, so everytime I load up, windows trys to locate ATK00110 drivers, finds them then tells me i was denied the installation. I have yet to find a cure for this. Next I installed the AIOC program and let it "overclock itself" the thing jumped to 4.6Ghz (its a 2.22 3700+) and locked up and refused to restart and load windows. Had to use the "Boot last know good configuration of windows" to get the computer to run windows again. Had to plug in RJ45 cable into each slot until the computer decided which one it wanted to use. Since the drivers for the Usb wont install correctly the board thinks it has 10 USB 1.0 slots ... and boy are they slow
