CaptyDVD and Instant DVD for Mac are not too bad

Pros: CaptyDVD-Easy to Learn/Use, Quickly author quality DVDs on a Mac; Realtime capture/compression, quality MPEG-2
Cons: No power off switch; Supplied cables inadequate. CaptyDVD-no frills; ugly templates; no sound level controls
Basically a pretty good package from ADS. I was stuck with a "Superdrive-less Mac", so no iDVD, and didn't want to shell out $500 for DVD Studio Pro. Furthermore, my TiBook is only 400MHz. I tried ffmpegX, which produced a mediocre DVD after ...

Crippled software

Pros: VCD & DVD okay
Cons: Totally proprietary mpeg format unusable with VCD Builder or Toast.
I own the PC version of this product. Everything good about it is missing from the Mac version:
