Sirius Compatible
by tfg9 ,Dec 28 '04
Pros: Sirius compatible, full rich sound, affordable Cons: no MP3
I just had this head unit installed in my Jeep Grand Cherokee, it looks and sounds excellent. In addition to being XM ready, it is also Sirius ready. I had the Sirius SIR-ALP1 tuner installed with the head unit. It works flawlessly. The MX feature provides rich and full sound. The only real downsides I have found is that there is a slight delay when changing the channels on Sirius and that it is unable to play MP3 files. This is the 1st Alpine I have owned and I am thus far very pleased.

alpine cd player cda-9825
by pufferfish ,Nov 13 '04
Pros: turn off built in power,4-volt preouts,105 cd signal-to-noise ratio Cons: none that I've seen
This cd player is the best alpine I've ever owned, and I've had lot's of them. To begin with the 4 volt outputs are great with amps, and there is a way to turn off the built in power, so it does not waste extra power when running just amps. All the crossovers are very adjustable for lows and highs. It has disc naming,cd-r ,cd-rw compatiable. It also has a very high signal to noise ratio that makes it sound much better than the older alpine radio's. I only listen to cd's and the cd player has worked flawless no skipping, even with my truck being lowered (when my 3-disc alpine would skip on every big bump I would hit,or when I had the subs really pounding!)

Alpine CDA-9825 CD player
by greenheron ,Jan 24 '05
Pros: Gorgeous sound, bright display, detachable front with carrying case. Cons: Long sound delays (up to 7 seconds) between functions; some CDRs are incompatible.
I found the sound quality of this unit to be superb, but other problems made it a disappointment. I have recorded most of my CD collection on CDRs for car listening so that I won't lose my valuable originals in the event of an auto burglary. Unfortunately, after 20 to 40 minutes of playing a CDR, the 9825 began to produce static, skips, and ultimately just froze on some tracks. According to the installation technician who returned my unit for a refund, the 9825 sometimes has trouble playing back CDRs burned with Roxio Easy CD Creator.
Another drawback, though small, is that there are annoyingly long sound delays when the user pushes a button to change a function. But overall, I thought this model had a wonderful assortment of features (including MX, an amazing sound expander) and the one quality that should trump all others: fantastic sound reproduction. I would recommend it but only with reservations: don't buy this unit if your CD-burning software is Roxio Easy CD Creator.

Alpine 9825 Receiver/CD Player
by bigreddog ,Jul 14 '04
Pros: Superb sound, easy setup of music preferences, features galore. Don't miss this one! Cons: What's not to like? I have yet to find anything I don't like about it.
I just had this unit installed in my Honda Accord, and it is awesome. I purchased this after a detailed explanation of features by a knowledgeable salesman who also had this in his personal vehicle.
Paired with a decent set of speakers, the sound and features of this receiver are too numerous to mention. The base/treble control makes for custom sound. The Media Expander fills in where the CDs lack base sound. 18 preset buttons are available for radio use,and for you talk radio fans of AM, there is a defeat feature that takes out the static and background noise. For security, the head is detachable and has its own case for protection of the unit. It even has a blackout feature which eliminates the glare of the light of the unit at night.
I am extremely pleased with this unit, and it exceeded my expectations.
