Pros: Small, Fast, Efficient, Reliable and Safe To Use Cons: $99 price tag may seem steep at first
OPERATIONAL ABSTRACT My first introduction to the Mac began with a lot of Wow! over things I no longer had to do. I did not need the overhead of an anti-virus monstrosity running constantly. I did not need to defragment. There is a ...

Pros: Good repair tool for Apple PCs and laptops Cons: Pricey; PDF manual; upgrades not free.
I am a relatively new user of Apple hardware on a personal basis. I love my Ibook and find the Apple OS X operating system to be very easy to use. So when asked around about the best utilities for the Apple, I kept hearing about DiskWarrior from ...

Disk Warrior 4 vs. Tech Tool Pro 4.5.2,
by macspectrum ,Dec 23 '06
Pros: DW was good in its day, OS 9 and pre TTP 4.5 Cons: very slow UB release, no download for upgrades, only full price purchasers
DW 4 vs. TTP 4.5.2
in the past, OS9 and maybe pre TTP 4.5, I would have said use DW vs. TTP, but Alsoft has been very arrogant with their very, very late release of DW4 for MacIntel. TTP 4.5 for MacIntel came out quite a while ago. Also, the lack of download to upgrade to DW 4 for registered users is a pain in the backside. I had a problem today and used TTP 4.5.2 to fix some very serious overlapped files and extents issues, thst I used to think only DW could handle. I don't know if I will be spending the $60 U.S. w/ delivery to get a product that does only a fraction of what TTP 4.5.2 does. Like I said I found Alsoft very arrogant about their UB re-write and had been asking them for many months about it with the stanadard reply of "real soon now" - what really UPSET me off is that if you purchase the FULL DW4 you can download it, but NOT the upgrade for registered users - translation -> if you're a customer - they don't care. Sorry, but I'm very UPSET

The most destructive software I have ever encountered.
by robbro ,Sep 24 '07
Pros: None Cons: Completely trashed two hard drives and I had to pay for the privilege!!
I bought this because the reviews said it was great and I needed a successor to Norton Utilities, but I was to be sadly disappointed. I had two macs running 10.3.9 and I thought it would be a good idea to give both hard drives the treatment to clean them up. Much to my astonishment, Disk warrior completely destroyed the first hard drive. Figuring it was just a freak accident, I tried it on the my other Mac, but it was trashed as well. Fortunately I had backed up both drives before starting, but I resented the time I had to take to rebuild the drives and the money I had wasted. Moreover, I have not been game to try it on any other computer since those two disasters, so it just sits on my shelf (I paid for the CD copy). I have been using macs since 1989 and won't ever change but nor will I allow Discwarrior anywhere near a computer of mine again. Even Microsoft does not make anything as bad as this. BE WARNED!

Alsoft sucks
by ouduke ,Jul 11 '06
Pros: No idea. Can't run the software on modern macs. Cons: No refunds for broken software.
Be careful dealing with them. Very shady company. They never warned me that this product doesn't work on the Intel Macs, and when I asked for a refund (before they even shipped it!!) I was told no. Eventually I had to go to my bank to have them clear it up for me. I'm not used to dealing with customer service like that.
Their checkout was programmed so badly that I didn't even know if I had purchased the product after it was all over. Multiple database errors in the scripts, warnings everywhere. It was surreal. It seems more like a fly-by-night company, but I know they have been around for a while. Don't know how much longer with this kind of service.Their customer service and tech support took 2 day to return my email!

Anyone who has a Mac should buy this!
by mediahound ,Jun 02 '05
Pros: Great product, works to fix problems and also tune up your system. Cons: A bit expensive, although it's worth it as cheap insurance.
After several OSX upgrades on my G4 and never having run this software, even though I wasn't experiencing a disk crash or any problems, I decided to give it a try anyway. (I had purchased this to have on hand as cheap insurance in case of later problems).
After running it, I was surprised at how much faster my computer seemed to run. The fact that it optimizes the directories rather than just patch them probably has something to do with it. At any rate, everything seems quicker now and given that, I believe this product is worth the money. Not only can it fix a corrupt disk, but it can tune your disk so that it operates more efficiently even if you aren't experiencing problems yet.

DiskWarrior for Mac is Great!
by mjblites ,Nov 23 '04
Pros: Fast, Easy and pretty cheap too. Cons: It won't make me breakfast in the morning.
The DiskWarrior for Mac works great. It allowed me to fine tune both of my editing suites. A Mac G4 and a Mac G5. DiskWarrior helped me to identify a failing internal hard drive and I was able to get all the files from the failing drive. I like that it keeps a monitor watch over my S.M.A.R.T. drives data, and lets me know of a potential failure. It's easy to install and work with. It was perfect for the job.
